To strengthen our Polymers (Consumer & Industrial) team, we are looking for a Technical Assistant based in Indonesia.
Role Purpose
The Technical Assistant will actively support the Assistant Technical Service Manager in testing Adhesives, Coating and any other related applications, implementing new test methods, sourcing raw materials/equipment, and supporting troubleshooting customer problems.
The role is also responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day laboratory operations, inventory management, sample handling, documentation control, laboratory safety compliance, and support for formulation development, testing, and customer-related projects. The Technical Assistant will also assist the Assistant Technical Service Manager in implementing WACKER and local (Singapore) Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) standards and legislation.
Job Scope
- Perform day-to-day laboratory testing and analysis according to international and defined standards; interpret, document results with high accuracy, report and present laboratory test results as outlined
- Maintain stock levels of all raw materials and dispose of expired materials.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and in good condition and is calibrated according to standards and SOP.
- Support the Assistant Technical Service Manager to ensure the lab is operated in line with WACKER quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); develop and update SOP’s whenever necessary.
- Support the preparation, packing, and shipment of samples and prototypes for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other laboratory support duties as assigned by the Technical Service team.
- Ensure the lab is clean and tidy and take own initiative to clear any non-conformance.
Job Requirements
- BSc in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related engineering/science discipline.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 3 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply
- Exposure (through academic projects, internships, or work experience) to the formulation, testing, or application of adhesives, sealants, and coating systems is an advantage
- Good command of English, with the ability to communicate and present technical information effectively
- Comfortable working in an international and matrix organization
- Well-organized, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety practices and Microsoft Office applications is preferred
