
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Multi-Craft Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities on reciprocating compressors in an industrial environment. Key responsibilities include completing gas overhaul revisions, conducting Rod Drop calibrations, and maintaining and troubleshooting equipment electrical systems. This role requires both mechanical and electrical expertise to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of compressor equipment.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform complete gas overhaul revisions on reciprocating compressors, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of compressor components. Conduct Rod Drop calibrations and analyze results to ensure proper compressor operation and prevent equipment failure.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems associated with reciprocating compressors, including wiring, controls, sensors, and motor connections. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on compressors and related equipment.
- Inspect and measure parts to determine wear, clearances, and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
- Replace or repair worn or defective parts such as pistons, rings, valves, bearings, and seals.
- Document all maintenance and overhaul activities, including findings, calibrations, parts used, and work performed.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime and optimize performance.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Utilized the maintenance SAP system to efficiently create, track, and close work orders, ensuring accurate documentation and streamlined maintenance processes.
EDUCATION:
- Associate degree, Journeymen (or higher-level education) in the field of mechanical engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
TYPE OF EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance or mechanical system applications, preferably in a chemical plant, refinery or large process plant.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough technical knowledge in the field of mechanical maintenance troubleshooting and repairs.
- Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) ( SAP) effectively to accomplish required maintenance in and efficient and organized manner.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in manufacturing, chemical, or energy sectors.
TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical faults and failures
- Repairing, replacing, and maintaining mechanical components and systems
- Using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Conducting root cause analysis for equipment issues
- Documenting maintenance activities and using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Communicating effectively with operations, engineering, and other maintenance teams
- Working safely in a chemical plant environment, including confined spaces and areas with hazardous materials
- Lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy equipment and parts
- Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively, especially during emergencies or shutdowns
- Adapting to changing priorities and working conditions
