What you will do:
The Technician Multi-Craft position supports operations by maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems within a chemical plant environment. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to established procedures while optimizing maintenance programs and supporting reliable plant operations.
This position exists to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Silicones systems by performing predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance. Multi-Craft Technicians apply a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and contribute to Wacker’s mission of sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Perform predictive, preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance on Silicones systems and related infrastructure.
- Maintain, inspect, align, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment (pumps, piping, valves, fans, conveyors, and process equipment).
- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment including motors, controls, and instrumentation (Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Level).
- Perform troubleshooting on both mechanical and E&IC systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic applications.
- Use SAP effectively to plan, track, and document maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures, incorporating safe behaviors into all activities.
- Provide start-up support to Silicones Operations and cooperate with Engineering & Maintenance and other service units.
What we need from you:
- High School Diploma, Journeymen (or higher level education) in the field of Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or Industrial Maintenance or related field of equivalent vocational/technical training; Associate Degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related filed or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical systems applications (chemical plant or refinery strongly preferred).
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation (Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Level).
- Repair experience with gear drives, pumps, piping, rigging, fabrication, control valves, and complex mechanical systems.
- SAP/CMMS or equivalent system knowledge preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues, including motors, pumps, fans, conveyors, and instruments
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with industrial tools and technologies such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
