Job Summary 

We are seeking for an experienced Technical Service Manager to join our Polymer team in Singapore. Partnering closely with the business team, you act as a technical consultant to our clients by developing or improving solutions and formulations to the best use of WACKER's products. This role reports directly to the Technical Director based in Singapore.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop new customers/construction applications with existing and new products (Dispersible Polymer Powders & Dispersions

  • Identify business opportunities with existing customers and distributors

  • Implement BT strategy within the technical service team based on customer segmentation and technical service strategy

  • Identify gaps in product portfolio and cooperate with Global Technology Management, Marketing, and Sales to develop solutions

  • Develop the application expertise among team members

  • Develop and conduct theory and practical training for both direct and distributor customers, internal colleagues, and other stakeholders e.g., university students

  • Arrange and implement advanced training for targeted customer

  • Support the business team in strategy development within LABA (SKL, PKL Process)

  • Carry out project goals for market development in the dry-mix mortar industry

  • Analyze and solve problems of dry mix mortar industries via WACKER offerings

  • Conduct projects on new trends in the dry mix mortar industry

 

Key Tasks

 

  • Responsible for all EH&S topics and guarantees that the laboratory is run according to WACKER as well as local EH&S regulations

  • Ensure that the lab is operated in line with WACKER quality standards and according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of WACKER

  • Ensure that the laboratory complies with all necessary documentation including development and update of SOP in case necessary

  • Overall responsible that all equipment is in good condition (maintenance) and is calibrated according to standards and SOP

  • Lead, guide, coach, and support the assigned technical team and ensure that the team is in line with business strategic directions

  • Keep updated and regular communication in exchange of information on customer developments and projects, technology trends as well as conduct gap analysis in case necessary

  • Supports the business team(s)/line(s) in their strategic push to introduce new offerings in the market

  • Supports customers in terms of formulation development, right usage of WACKER product portfolio based on customer needs, testing of customers' samples, etc

  • Plan and conduct trainings for WACKER staff, distributors as well as customers in line with the business team(s)/line(s) or/and market needs

  • Observe and comply with the basic rules laid down in the management systems used by local entities and Divisions

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum Degree in Chemistry / Materials Science / Civil Engineering or related studies

  • Experience or exposure to the construction or architectural coating industry

  • At least 5 years of laboratory work experience in construction or coating applications

  • Organizational/coordination skills

  • Experience in managing a laboratory independently

  • Background in EH&S topics

  • Effective communication and organizational skills
