Our regional presence in the U.S. is focused on GMP-compliant manufacturing of plasmid DNA products up to 500L. The team has extensive experience up to phase III clinical supply and successfully released more than 100 GMP batches for advanced therapy applications. 


At our San Diego site, we are currently looking for a Site Controller to provide financial guidance and leadership from functional perspective.

Job Responsibilities

The Site Controller is the financial lead for Wacker Biotech USA, directly supporting the General Manager in achieving their strategic, financial and operational goals.  The incumbent is a member of the Biotech leadership team, and in this capacity provides financial guidance and consultation from a functional perspective.  Collaboration with regional and global colleagues is essential to ensure alignment within the business from an operational and strategic standpoint.

  • Provides business advice and counsel to the Site General Manager through active participation in the leadership team, acting as the business interface with all finance disciplines and actively participating in the development of business operating strategies.
  • Manage the treasury functions and ensure internal control is maintained and assets are safeguarded
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly financial statements are completed accurately and timely.  Perform tech transfer process from process development to manufacturing scale.
  • Coordinate and facilitate planning and forecasting for the organization, including calculation of the annual plant rates
  • Timely and accurate completion of ongoing operational analysis required by Division, Region or Corporate management. 
  • Perform the pre/post calculations of specific customer projects.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual audits. 
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors on tax matters, including completion of federal tax returns
  • Administration of NetSuite software,, special projects and travel as requested.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required, Master's preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in technical accounting , financial analysis or controlling.
  • Controlling experience working in a biopharma industry or within a similar industry
  • CPA preferred, not required
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to be the primary finance partner for the General Manager and help define business strategy
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of cost accounting concepts and cost allocation methodologies
  • SAP experience, or equivalent ERP system
  • Effective communication skills, encompassing verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively with others
