At our San Diego site, we are currently looking for a(n) ​IT Senior System Engineer​ to be a part of our growing team.



Job Responsibilities

  • WACKER is seeking a self-motivated individual who has in-depth experience implementing and supporting IT solutions based on established global standards in a GMP environment which include data center (computer room), server administration, server virtualization, terminal services, and advanced infrastructure.  We are looking for an experienced individual with a high level of technical skills. 
  • Provides IT Infrastructure support for Wacker BioTech US located in San Diego, CA. Ensures that all IT Infrastructure products and service portfolios are delivered to the business within the IT Infrastructure group's responsibility matrix. Services for laboratory, production and non-production environments including disaster recovery and business continuity. Support operations, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance management for all server systems. Ensure IT service efficiency and proactively propose any service improvement potential.
  • Support business operations by providing single point of contact for all IT related services provided to end users including desk-side client equipment and applications. Aid the region's Client Services (end user support) and Applications team members to support end users executing the service delivery process.
  • Provide necessary assistance and support for any other regional/global infrastructure, client, and application project implementation at WBU.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related with a minimum of 7 years of experience in server management, Windows & LINUX operating systems, VMWare or other server virtualization platforms.
  • Strong collaboration experience in global manufacturing and matrix organization
  • Good team worker, highly self-motivated, and strong self-confidence to work independently
  • Strong customer-oriented attitude and process-oriented thinking, understand well the ITIL methodology
  • Good experience working on IT Infrastructure projects and effective project management skills
  • Effective communication and presentation skills; verbal and written. Ability to present at the executive management level.
  • Relevant technical certifications
  • Knowledge and experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment
  • Preferred understanding of Code of Federal Regulations - Title 21 - Food and Drugs, Part 11 (21 CFR Part 11) and Data Integrity Requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Computer System Validation
  • Certification in Microsoft Windows Server, SUSE LINUX and ITIL Foundation preferred
  • Percentage of Travel - 5%
