Job Responsibilities


This position support Distribution Management by managing, coaching, communicating with two or more Distribution Management professionals responsible for supporting selected teams for Division S and B.  Also responsible for Distribution Sales Support Specialist mentoring and guidelines.  Responsible for target setting (with input from the businesses), mid-year and annual reviews, weekly “jour fix” communication sessions, investigating and scheduling training or development workshops designed to further enhance the expertise, development and support performance of our team.  Provides focus on the skills and individual needs of the Adrian Distribution Management team while allowing the business teams to focus on the strategy, execution and fine tuning.  Total of three to four direct reports.

  • Take a leadership role in Distribution Management within Corporate S&D organization.  Establish regular communication across the DM team (Polymers, Silicones and Biosolutions) to have a platform to discuss issues commons to all divisions (example – Brenntag reorganization, Small Customer Transfer, Monthly Global Meetings)   Develop and strengthen key commercial and technical relationships to Division S and F internally understand strategic business goals (as defined by business targets and strategic plans). Promote development by the DM’s of relationships across functions and at different levels within the distribution and internal organization. Coach other DM’s to accomplish the role stated in step 2 below.
  • Fulfill Distribution Manager role for specific BT’s as appropriate. Role includes understanding the BT strategy and properly conveying that to Distribution partner. Building yearly MBO targets with Distribution Partner that accomplish the BT strategy. Drive Distribution Partner to find new target accounts through routine BT meetings, opportunity management, joint calls and focused training while helping them to close on as much new business as possible to grow the business and, at the very least, to meet the goals
  • Coach, mentor and provide feedback to direct report DM’s supporting other BT’s in Division S and BI1 in Biosolutions.  Make sure DM’s have Train the Trainer module experience so they can effectively train their partners.  Monitor training within business teams so that DM’s participate and have tools and information to support their distribution partners effectively
  • Manage Distribution Support Specialist so that reporting, pricing and price maintenance and price supports process is managed effectively.  Look for opportunities to streamline workload and reporting with global DM group. Monitor and address payment performance of Distributors and support Credit Department in payment issues with all Division S and F distribution partners



  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical sales, marketing or business development.
  • Commercial experience in a distribution/chemical environment of leading chemical distributor or chemical manufacturer is preferred.
  • Individual must have strong organization, communication and follow up skills, interest in learning new technology (chemical and electronic literacy) and influence skills to sell internally as well as at the customer level. 
  • Ability to identify and close new opportunities.
  • Must be able to learn new customer relationship management (Salesforce) technology and business reporting technology (Business Objects
  • Experience leading and operating in a matrix organization, preferable in specialty chemical markets.
  • Exceptional leadership and influence skills.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive and implement change.
  • Team oriented with respect for the need and importance of individual contribution. 
  • Familiarity with business reporting technology  Business Objects, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office Suite of software preferred.
