To strengthen our team in Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam, we are looking for an experienced Technical Service Manager to join our Polymers team. 

Role Purpose

As the first local Technical Service Manager for WACKER Polymers in Vietnam, you will serve as the primary technical representative and subject matter expert for Vietnam and Cambodia. The role acts as a critical interface between Customers, and cross-functional teams to drive business growth and strengthen WACKER's technical position in the Vietnamese market.

The position plays a key role in identifying market needs, translating customer requirements into technical solutions, facilitating knowledge exchange between Vietnam and the regional/global technical network, and supporting the long-term development of WACKER's technical presence in the country.

Job Scope

Technical Service & Application Development

• Provide technical service and application support to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot dry-mix formulations and applications using WACKER technologies.
• Lead internal and external product evaluations, customer qualification, and commercialization projects.
• Identify market needs, application opportunities, and portfolio gaps; collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Global Technical teams to develop solutions.
• Support the introduction of new products, technologies, and applications in Vietnam & Cambodia.
• Resolve technical issues and customer complaints in collaboration with Quality, Operations, and regional/global technical teams.

Technical Development & Industry Engagement

• Support strategic business growth through technical consultancy, market development projects, and customer engagement.
• Develop technical sales tools, application guidelines, and training materials to support commercial activities.
• Conduct customer training, seminars, workshops, technical presentations, and industry outreach programs.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive activities, and regulatory developments relevant to the business.

Technical Leadership for Vietnam

• Serve as WACKER's primary technical representative and subject matter expert in Vietnam & Cambodia.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers, industry partners, universities, and relevant external stakeholders.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange between local, regional, and global technical organizations.
• Provide technical leadership and support the development of local technical capabilities aligned with business growth objectives.

Technical Governance, Compliance & Operational Readiness

• Support technical governance, quality, compliance, and operational readiness activities for Vietnam.
• Ensure technical and laboratory activities comply with WACKER standards, SOPs, IMS requirements, and applicable EH&S regulations.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and laboratory systems to required standards.
• Support audits, risk assessments, equipment management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive the development of local technical capabilities, governance frameworks, and laboratory readiness to support the future expansion of WACKER's technical operations in Vietnam.

Job Requirements

• BSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Materials, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Technical Service, Application Development, R&D, or Technical Marketing within construction chemicals, building materials, coatings, polymers, or specialty chemicals.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction chemicals and formulation development, with proven troubleshooting and customer support experience.
• Open to travel within Vietnam and also to other location in South East Asia (50%)
• Experience in laboratory operations, technical project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of quality systems, EH&S requirements, and technical compliance standards.
•Prior leadership experience with team management preferred.
•Experience in establishing a technical center or laboratory facility, including legal, compliance, and operational set-up, will be an added advantage.
• Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
• Able to work independently as the local technical leader and build technical capabilities in a developing organization.
• Fluent in Vietnamese and English.
