
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Engineering and Maintenance team at our Eddyville, IA site. This internship offers hands-on experience in rotating & static equipment, professional development opportunities, and exposure to real-world projects that make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project #1.
- Conduct research and develop a procedure for online and offline steam trap inspections as secondary project (1).
- Support team members in secondary project 2.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas
- Prepare reports, presentations, or documentation as needed
- Create and present a Project Presentation at the end of the internship
- Other duties as assigned
Project Details
- Primary Project: Pump audits and pump bad actors – audit areas, design specification / data sheet development, review with engineers and operations, size/quote alternatives with vendors.
- Secondary Project (1): Develop a stream trap investigation procedure – audit steam traps, develop procedure to inspect online steam traps using ultrasonic and temperature, develop offline inspection and replacement procedure base on engineering standards and manufacturing recommendations.
- Secondary Project (2): Organize fire water system documentation – work with vendor to collect documentation, organize and begin developing P&IDs, equipment data sheets.
Qualifications:
- Rising junior or higher pursuing a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Available full-time in person (Mon–Fri) for our 12-week program
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with reliability or maintenance is useful but not required.
- Knowledge of pump sizing and pump curves is useful but not required.
