To strengthen our team in Eddyville,
we are looking for you as a(n) Engineer III.

 

The Engineer III will support, maintain and continuously improve the performance of the Cyclodextrin (CD), Enzyme Fermentation and Spray Drying at the EDY Plant and related auxiliary systems.  This position provides engineering and technical services to assure safe efficient operations and regulatory compliance, maximize the availability and efficiency of all plant units.

 

Technical Duties:

•        Supports the planning, coordination, documentation and cost control of the technical maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance for the EDY Plant.

•        Responsible for ensuring compliance with governmental and corporate rules and regulations regarding inspections, revisions, and testing on projects.

•        Responsible for maintaining up to date technical documentation.

•        Responsible for managing and maintaining proper records, paperwork and entries for SAP system and other applicable information systems for the repair tasks and materials, preventive maintenance orders and services received, including the goods receipt, when applicable.

 

Technical Optimization:

•        Leads the maintenance and compliance on technical implementation of permitting requirements and preparation of technical documents for permits.

•        Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external engineering and contractors.

•        Acts as a point of contact for equipment vendors and external contractor companies.

•        Initiates, follows through and is responsible for safe efficient project completion.

•        Responsible for keeping documentation and equipment records up to date.

•        Leads management of change projects and activities ensuring compliance to internal

Wacker procedures and third-party certification requirements.

•        Perform all tasks and assignments according to WACKER policies and procedures.

Environmental, Safety & Quality Support:

•        Responsible for the technical safety of the plant processes in compliance with governmental and corporate rules and regulations.

•        Supports operations personnel to follow and maintain safety operational requirements specifically focusing on process safety management (PSM) elements, including mechanical integrity, explosion protection, dust hazard analysis, high pressure equipment and electrical safety.

•        Support quality related regulations and directives helping keep the plant in compliance with food GMPs, food safety requirements and industrial hygiene requirements.

 

Cooperation with Other Site Functions:

•        Coordinates with Production Manager, Shift Supervisors and/or Quality Manager to determine most efficient schedules in events such as major repairs, shutdowns, campaign changes and expansions and projects, to minimize down time.

•        Support Production with preparing plant operating procedures. Assists in the optimization of processes related to product quality, cost, output, and utilization of personnel.

•        Assists in day-to-day production/compliance needs.

•        Participate in programs and improvement projects for productivity, food safety, cleanliness, plant security, product quality, process and premises.

•        Provides technical support for projects such as future expansions, new processes, and products.

•        Closely communicates with WCC engineering and with corporate BioSolutions engineering regarding budgets, technical approach, systems and procedures and projects through completion.

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations including PSM and environmental regulations
  • Strong knowledge of GMP for food ingredient manufacturing
  • Ability to assess risk to the business, health, safety and to the environment quickly with limited immediate input from others
  • Strong knowledge of Project initiation, follow through and completion
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, ISO 2200 regulations and food safety related regulations, as well as DHA requirements.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of engineering principles
  • Objective judgement and fact-based decision making ability.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams.
