Chemical Operator is a shift position (rotating 12 hours, days and nights). The Operator is responsible for the overall filtration process for all stripper systems from the stripper to the storage tanks, including the Sweco filters and FSI filters. The operator also rotates on a daily basis to operate the belt press area.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Section 3 Operator is a shift position divided into three positions: tank truck loader, rail car loader, and tank manager, which rotate daily. The operator is responsible for unloading bulk raw materials, sampling for the bio program, and filtering the finished product. The Section 3 operator is also responsible for general warehouse tasks involving loading and unloading tank trucks and railcars, finished product filtering, and management of product storage tanks. It is the responsibility of each employee to know, understand, and diligently practice our EH&S and Security policies and practices.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal chemical hazards found in a typical chemical plant. Works rotating shift work hours. Employee is subject to and is expected to work overtime requirements in the section 2 overtime rotation. Appropriate personal protective equipment is to be used whenever potential exists for exposure to hazardous materials. Works job on a rotating basis in conjunction with two warehouse operating positions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND APTITUDES:
Medium Work--lifting 55 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects. Often requires stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and reaching.
- Learn and explain WCC/ISO procedures, rules and regulations.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Perform basic math skills
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative work environment with others
- Understand and follow verbal and written direction
- Good communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Basic knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies.
- Knowledge of LO/TO procedure
What we need from you:
High School diploma required; some college coursework is preferred
A minimum of 3 years of industrial plant experience is required, and a minimum of two years of chemical plant process operations experience is preferred.
