WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Technician Multi-Craft (CoRe) to join our growing team.


The Technician Multi-Craft (CoRe) role is a multi-discipline mechanic and electrician that works hand-in-hand with both the piston compressor mechanical team and the refrigeration team supporting in electrical, instrumentation, and controls or mechanical work as needed. This person will be the expert in these specialized system instrumentation and will support the maintenance standardizing across site.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead E&IC tasks such as flow meter cleaning during compressor revisions, rod drop sensor calibration, SIS tests, Hoerbiger valve tuning and support, control valve maintenance
  • Manage specialized EIC troubleshooting efforts on piston compressor and refrigeration systems
  • Assist with mechanical work of compressor revisions


Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training
  • Associates Degree Or equivalent and experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Experience with reading, understanding and applying the contents of all OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, EPA and other codes or regulations pertaining to manufacturing industry. Refresh and update knowledge periodically
  • Experience with reading and comprehending mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with shop and fabrication shop equipment
  • Repair experience with gear drives, rigging, bearings, pumps, motors, instrumentation, electrical equipment and components and repair of complex equipment and systems
  • Maintain, inspect, align, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment and systems
  • Experience with DCS systems Siemens and Delta V
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques and safe work practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player attitude
