WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) ​Technical Operator - HDK Packaging​ to join our growing team.


The Technical Operator - HDK Packaging will be responsible for working on the packaging line and responding to technical issues.  He/She will package HDK in paper bags,  FIBCs, and trucks to fulfill the customer needs as well as monitor and control DCS/PLC functions.  The Technical Operator will also be attending to machine errors and line stoppages, taking necessary measures to restart production.



  • Package HDK in paper bags, FIBCs, and trucks to fulfill the customer needs
  • Monitor and control DCS/PLC functions
  • Attend to machine errors and line stoppages, taking necessary measures to restart production.
  • Fork lift operations
  • Correct maintenance issues as needed.
  • Contact appropriate personnel when additional expertise is required
  • Follow company policies regarding health and environmental protection, work safety, plant safety and quality
  • Responsible for RCRA generation as relating to container and labeling usage, maintenance and storage functions, and regular inspections of RCRA applicable areas.  
  • Other duties as assigned



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proven technical and mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
  • Physical strength and endurance are essential for this position
  • Effectively communicate with team members and other stakeholders
  • Skill set to operate in a fast paced production environment while focusing on safety, quality and precision
  • Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment and vibration
  • This position will be required to work at all work stations in a rotational manner.  Rotation frequency varies.
  • This position will be required to work 12 hour shifts and rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, etc…)
  • Perform manual tasks as noted in the job description
