WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries.
At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Technical Operator (Crushing) to be a part of our growing team.



The Technical Operator (Crushing) will be work on the assembly line and respond to technical issues.  They will perform manual tasks for feeding the lines, unloading the lines, loading and breaking raw material and stacking 22 lbs bags.  the Technical Operator may also be responsible for harvesting batches of polysilicon from reactor to ensure continuous operations.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform production duties on the line        
  • Attend to machine errors
  • Use a 15 lb hammer for crushing silicon rods; lift 22 lb bags to unload them in a box
  • Input downtime information into the downtime tracking system
  • Report on production issues, provide feedback to technical staff
  • Contact appropriate personnel when additional expertise is required
  • Follow company policies regarding health and environmental protection, work safety, plant safety and quality
  • Responsible for RCRA generation as relating to container and labeling usage, maintenance and storage functions, and regular inspections of RCRA applicable areas.
  • Opening and reassembling reactors to harvest polysilicon
  • Work with management to achieve reactor turnaround standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput and uptime
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Proven technical and mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
  • Physical strength and endurance are essential for this position
  • Effectively communicate with team members and other stakeholders
  • Skill set to operate in a fast paced production environment while focusing on safety, quality and precision
  • Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment and vibration
  • This position may require working at multiple work stations
  • This position will be required to work 12 hour shifts and rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, etc…)
  • Perform manual tasks as noted in the job description
