WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) ​Technical Operator (All)​ to join our growing team.

 

The Technical Operator - CSR will be reponsible for de- and re-assembleing lines as directed by operations as well as unloading big bags containing silicon metal using fork lifts, hoist and designed unloading equipment, to introduce material into storage silos.  He/She will also be responsible for the operation and daily upkeep of silicon grinding equipment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • De- and re-assemble BDPC lines
  • Operation of Powered Industrial Equipment to support BDPC assembly/reassembly tasks, movement/processing/unloading of “lumpy” or bagged silicon metal (forklifts, pallet jacks, front end loader)
  • Transportation of BDPC using hoists, carts, forklifts to and from the cleaning department from BDPC process area

  • Operation/Routine Upkeep of Silicon Metal Grinding Equipment

  • Navigate big bags & bulk drums of silicon metal using forklifts and hoist into unloading equipment

  • Operation of big bag unloading equipment to introduce silicon metal into operational storage silos

  • Follow all site safety, environmental, quality, operational procedures/policies. Ensure safe efficient operation of all equipment. Continuous housekeeping to ensure safe/clean work environment

  • Other duties as assigned

 

The Technical Operator-Crushing will be work on the assembly line and respond to technical issues.  They will perform manual tasks for feeding the lines, unloading the lines, loading and breaking raw material and stacking 22 lbs bags.  the Technical Operator may also be responsible for harvesting batches of polysilicon from reactor to ensure continuous operations.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform production duties on the line        
  • Attend to machine errors
  • Use a 15 lb hammer for crushing silicon rods; lift 22 lb bags to unload them in a box
  • Input downtime information into the downtime tracking system
  • Report on production issues, provide feedback to technical staff
  • Contact appropriate personnel when additional expertise is required
  • Follow company policies regarding health and environmental protection, work safety, plant safety and quality
  • Responsible for RCRA generation as relating to container and labeling usage, maintenance and storage functions, and regular inspections of RCRA applicable areas.
  • Opening and reassembling reactors to harvest polysilicon

  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput and uptime

The Technical Operator-Deposition will harvest batches of polysilicon from reactors to ensure continuous operations

The Technical Operator - HDK works on the packaging line and respond to technical issues. Package HDK in paper bags,  FIBCs, and trucks to fulfill the customer needs. Monitor and control DCS/PLC functions. Attend to machine errors and line stoppages, taking necessary measures to restart production.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proven technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Physical strength and endurance are essential for this position
  • Effectively communicate with team members and other stakeholders

 

The Technical Operator, Central Services will assist in the performance of manual tasks related to the operation and repair of above and below grade utilities.  They will execute non-technical requests for service as generated by departments across the site.  This position will support crane and rigging activities, heavy load intra-site logistics, non-hazardous waste storage, excavations, and general site services.  Equipment operation of loaders, excavators, etc. is also required.  This position may require work with hazardous materials and incumbent will be expected to follow company policies regarding health and environmental protection, safety, and quality.  A Technical Operator may be assigned as liaison for a specific work scope such as a large CSA project, Equipment Cleaning, etc. Central Services best suits the candidate who enjoys variety, working in outside conditions year round, and is passionate about treating our environment well.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret information from DCS (process control system), prints, schematics, etc.
  • Operate excavation and loading equipment
  • Assist in the operation and troubleshooting of the following networks: inorganic, storm, and sanitary sewers, steam & condensate, cooling water, industrial/fire water, potable water, compressed air, nitrogen and hydrogen
  • Assist with equipment cleaning operations as necessary
  • Assist in Utility requests for service
  • Perform non-technical requests for service
  • Maintain records and documentation
  • Cooperate with the other qualified staff in scheduling and coordinating   servicing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
  • Comply with company policies and procedures for operations, safety and training, health and environmental protection and quality
  • Other duties as assigned

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have a minimum High School diploma or GED
  • Associate degree in a technical field or Nationally accredited craft designation and prior equipment operation preferred
  • 1 year of relevant experience required; 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Have proven technical and mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
  • Be able to read Isometrics, P&ID's, and Layout drawings.
  • Teamwork skills with safety and environmental consciousness required
  • Good communication skills required
  • Be willing to work any shift (including 12-hour shifts and/or rotating shifts) necessary to support a 24/7 operation
  • Be willing to work overtime (including weekends and holidays) if necessary
  • Must pass pre-employment testing
