WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join our growing team.


The Supply Chain Manager will lead and manage the Charleston Polysilicon Supply Chain Department and resources including the planning and requisition of raw materials, auxiliaries and operating supplies to the planning and scheduling of production, together with the group.   He/She will ensure customers are supplied with the right material in quality and quantity, on the desired date and the most cost efficient way as well as ensure, develop and optimize operational processes, production and media planning, supply of raws, auxiliaries and operating supplies, control center tasks and just-in-time dispatch flows to customers and hubs, which have to be adjusted monthly. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the Charleston (CHA) Polysilicon Supply Chain (SC) department and resources including the planning and requisition of raw materials, auxiliaries and operating supplies to the planning and scheduling of production, together with the group
    • Initiate individual specific goals, implement, monitor and drive both divisional and global Supply Chain and BD-P goals
    • Manage production planning, required product mixes, and balance out short notice production changes
    • Coordinate with global teams and on-site departments and develop sound supply network processes
    • Plan and ensure procurement of raw materials, auxiliaries and operating supplies. Balance out the respective inventory ensuring cost management
    • Facilitate continuous improvement, as well as cost transparency establishing best practice processes and developing associated KPIs to manage performance and measure success
    • Balance business strategy and functional goals to deliver business outcomes
    • Ensure correct month closing data both for CHA located divisions, and FTZ
    • Conduct bottleneck management, risk assessment and initiate solution approaches and advise the involved parties
  • Lead, manage and provide functional and disciplinary supervision of the CHA Polysilicon Supply Chain team in accordance with company regulations, while ensuring effectiveness of staff to exercise and perform their duties
    • Lead safety as a precondition and core value for all department activities, and be a role model at it
    • Coordinate with all departments involved in daily functional tasks
    • Ensure an open and creative working atmosphere aimed at staff motivation and continuous improvement of all processes including proper training, development opportunities, effectiveness and efficiency
    • Lead, delegate, empower team members and ensure open communication, transparency and a professional, colaborative environment to work in
    • Advises, motivates and supports the group members learn and develop
  • Collaborate and align with Charleston Site Leadership and Supply Chain Organization in Berghausen, Germany
    • Participate in various monthly and annual meetings, conduct and organize presentations, meetings and reports
    • The participation in several meeting rounds is required: Site Management Review CHA,  OLTs/GOLTs, production and global SC routines, allignments with SC in Germany, Quality Meetings
    • Participate in Quality Audits
    • Satisfy corporate targets and goals, taking into account all aspects of occupational safety, company regulations, (e.g., corporate policies concerning quality, safety and the environment), supply chain processes, and quality, through appropriate use of organizational and human resources
    • Represent the supply chain interests and at times of contradictory targets between the parties, recommend and deliver reasonable solutions


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain; Master’s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred
  • 7+ related experience in a supply chain or logistics organization
  • 3+ years in a supply chain management role
  • Relevant experience a supply chain or logistics organization required.  Experience in a complex manufacturing organization is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of industry and products related to business or of supply chain in a similar industry
  • Experience in having held a cross functional role in a matrix organization
  • International collaboration experience is highly preferred
  • SAP experience required
  • FTZ experience  is highly preferred
  • Good organizational, communication, teamwork  and IT skills (SAP & Microsoft Office)
  • Decisive, open minded and resilient, with fast perception and ability to understand how things and situations interact
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with all the relevant parties and partners at the site as well as work systematically
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking, flexibility and ability to work under pressure
