we are looking for you as a(n) Sr. Engineering Manager, Asset Reliability Excellence.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager in Asset Reliability Excellence (ARE) for corporate engineering team at our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

This strategic role will establish, direct, support, and implement the asset reliability program utilized in the production plants for the US Region. This role will be responsible for the overall program management of asset reliability, asset inventory optimization modeling, asset life cycle analysis, and optimized maintenance strategies that maintain and/or exceed compliance with regulatory and Company requirements. The major job tasks are to develop, implement, and supervise regional, local harmonized asset reliability programs to optimize Asset Reliability for all Wacker locations in the US Region. The Senior Manager will ensure a cost efficient and measurable program design with plans and procedures for reliability and equipment availability while enhancing safety. Management responsibilities include 4-6 direct reports. This role coordinates the group's tasks across the region with plant engineering, maintenance, and operations to prioritize workloads among the ARE group and external resources as needed to meet deadlines. This position manages a small team through coaching, development, setting objectives, as well as annual appraisals. The Senior Manager will have functional reporting line to the Senior Director of Corporate Engineering.

 

  • Direct and oversee the Asset Reliability program for all WACKER US Region locations. More specifically:           
    • Develop, implement and supervise Regional Asset Reliability programs to develop stores optimization models, predictive asset failure models, and operational effectiveness optimization strategies for all Wacker locations in US Region.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert regarding asset management strategies and asset performance strategies.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert regarding KPI’s and dashboards to measure Asset Reliability.
    • Develop, and help implement, ITPM (Inspection, Testing, and Preventative Maintenance) activities and classifications consistent with standard industry practices.
    • Develop, execute and recommend programs to maintain ITPM best practices
    • Be prepared to advise as necessary with respect to new equipment design, fabrication, and installation.
    • Lead and develop the team(s) responsible for the Asset Reliability (located in Charleston, TN with US Regional responsibility), Asset Strategy Management, and Asset Performance Management.

 

  • Communicate reliability-related risks to management and provide support to Site Engineering and Maintenance Teams to ensure alignment with US Regional and Technical objectives 

 

  • Evaluate and apply new technologies when supported by a business case. Drive continual improvement through reliability and OEE dashboards, failure analysis, and peer engagement for US Region.
    • Lead analysis of asset failure trends to accurately predict maintenance budget strategies.
    • Develop and implement tools for determining asset reliability risks for safety and integrity. Develop and coordinate End of Life Planning strategies for rotating/reciprocating, process equipment, and other assets (long term replacement) to avoid unscheduled failures.
    • Develop equipment and spare parts related engineering guidance documents such as procedures, standards, work instructions, etc. and provide training, as needed. Develop tools to develop models, schedules, monitor, and ensure effectiveness of ITPMs (Inspection, Test and Preventative Maintenance).
    • Support technical spare parts management program.
    • Provide Asset Reliability related support for equipment focused capital project development and implementation.

 

  • Provide management to WACKER direct reports and direction to identified contractors providing Asset Reliability services
    • Define resource strategies including contractor personnel or external service providers in cooperation with local internal customers in Operations, Engineering & Maintenance

 

  • Ensure compliance with industry relevant regulations, codes, standards, and industry best practices (including ASME, API, ANSI, SAE, etc.), and quality requirements, as applicable to the site/Region
    • Promote asset reliability culture through personal behavior and commitment. Provide support to Process Safety Management, Mechanical Integrity, Plant Engineering, and Maintenance programs.
    • Perform audits to ensure effectiveness of asset reliability systems at WCC sites in the US Region on periodic basis or at the discretion of WCC management.

 

What we need from you:

  • B.S. in engineering is required; M.S. is mechanical or chemical engineering is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in manufacturing related work is required, preferably in an asset reliability/quality execution role; 20+ years of experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in covering predictive maintenance for petrochemical and/or chemical plants
  • 5+ years of management experience leading a team of technical direct reports
  • Expert knowledge regarding Asset Reliability, stores optimization, life cycle analyses a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and executing an Asset Reliability or Productivity program at a regional or corporate level
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and improving operational efficiency issues
  • Expertise in project management and cost estimation
  • Exceptional leadership, ownership, and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of digitalization tools and asset data management software (e.g. SAP, Meridium, APM)
  • Strong knowledge regarding safe work practices, hazard identification and awareness, and reliability investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Proactive work attitude with deep field experience and the willingness to work independently and team oriented in a dynamic Plant environment
  • Willing and able to work collaboratively in a global team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing process equipment, troubleshooting, failure analysis and maintenance practices.
  • Strong engineering, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with asset data management tools and experience in the ability to identify trends through data evaluation for reliability analysis. SAP experience will be preferred.
  • Familiar with reliability tools and techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Modes, and Effects Analysis (FMEA), preventive maintenance and predictive technologies
  • Effective time management, organizational, and record keeping skills. Familiarity with office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • Physical ability to work around industrial equipment, incl. frequent climbing of stairs and ladders in a chemical plant environment and for Regional/global business travels
  • Ability to wear personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots, respirator, and hearing protection).
  • Participation in trade organizations such as ASME, SAE, SMRP etc. regarding reliability related efforts is a plus
