WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) ​Sr. Director - Charleston Site Leader​ to join our growing team.

 

This position will be responsible for all general management duties and responsibilities of the multi-divisional site in Charleston, TN.  This role will oversee all site-wide functions and services, including EHSS, Infrastructure, and Productivity/Operational Excellence, as well as have functional management duties for Controlling, Procurement, and HR.

 

As the site leader of a multi-divisional, this role will provide matrix oversight to the co-located Wacker divisions (currently Polysilicon and Silicones).  The jobholder shall give due consideration to the needs and potential of the corresponding departments, observe internal company regulations (e.g., corporate policies concerning quality, safety and the environment) and strategic division targets, as well as all prevailing industry standards and regulations, this role will provide matrix oversight to the co-located Wacker divisions (currently Polysilicon and Silicones).  The job holder shall give due consideration to the needs and potential of the corresponding departments, observe internal company regulations (e.g., corporate policies concerning quality, safety and the environment) and strategic division targets, as well as all prevailing industry standards and regulations.

 

Actively represent WACKER and the Charleston site in the community, with government leaders, local associatons, and media. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

Site Management Duties:

  • Ensure all CHA located divisions, departments, and employees are operating in a safe, environmentally responsible and effective manner at all times.
  • Ensure global and regional alignment and achieve the strategic objectives and KPI’s for the CHA site.
  • Lead the CHA site leadership team(s), various task forces, and serve as a contributing member of the NCA executive team.
  • Disciplinary leadership for co-located Wacker divisions (currently Polysilicon and Silicones) within a global matrix organization.
  • Leadership and participation in Projects for development and improvement of product and processes for enhancement of efficiency and quality.
  • Partnership with regional functions, including PSM, Mechanical Integrity, Corporate Engineering, Procurement, Legal, etc. to ensure site effectiveness and compliance in all areas.
  • Managing subordinate employees and initiating necessary qualification measures
  • Fulfilling corporate obligations with respect to compliance with safety and environmental-protection legislation
  • Optimize processes across the site
  • Represent WACKER in the community, with government leaders, local associatons, and address media relations.
  • Ensure operating divisions have necessary site services and infrastructure to meet their respective business objectives.
  • Ensure all required trainings are timely made by all team members in his/her area of responsibility.

​​​​​​​Specialized Duties:

  • Development of short- mid-term and long-term site strategy; definition of roadmaps on the basis of the directions given by the global and regional organizations.
  • Preparing proposals for capital investment to ensure, optimize and expand production capacity for the CHA site.
  • Ensure safe, efficient production and foster cost control; continuously monitoring workflows to identify areas for potential optimization/rationalization; making suggestions for potential process changes.
  • Participating in the planning and specification of priorities for development and production proposals.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field; Masters degree or PhD in a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience in plant management
  • Plant management experience in a complex chemical manufacturing plant, or site with multiple units or tenants.
  • Experience leading cross-functional organizational groups  
  • Demonstrated results in a highly-matrixed global organization
  • Demonstrated results improving and sustaining EHSS performance and safety-focused culture
  • Familiarity with business management basics
  • Knowledge of labor law
  • Excellent computer Skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams or employees
  • Promote Wacker's internal policies and procedures 
  • Proficiency in both German and English - preferred
