WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a Rotational Engineer to join our growing team.

We are currently seeking an entry-level Rotational Engineer based at our Charleston, TN site.  

 

What you will do:

Employees of this program will complete 24 months of rotational assignments in various engineering departments throughout a designated territory. The assignment will be based in Charleston, TN and may include visits to other WACKER locations throughout the country such as Michigan, California, and Ohio.  Through completion of assigned projects, as well as day-to-day plant support, this introductory role equips the engineer with the diversified skillset necessary for entry into permanent plant reliability, operational, or project roles. This position will shadow designated managers to learn about different aspects of the organization and help the Engineering or Operations teams ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and unit optimization.

 

Technical Duties:

  • Support and closely cooperate with assigned Manager on planning and completing the assigned projects and assisting the Engineering or Operations team.
  • Become fluent in technical systems utilized by Engineering such as SAP, COMOS, Pipe-Flo (and related modeling software).
  • Heavy field shadowing of Maintenance and Operations staff to become familiar with chemical plant layout, safe work practices, exposure to machinery and piping systems.
  • Participate in the commissioning of new or modified production units and the planning or execution of system turnarounds.
  • Support maintenance team in the planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities by maintaining asset data in enterprise asset management and plant engineering systems.
  • Support development of specifications and standards.
  • Plan and execute small projects such as conducting or coordinating debottlenecking and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support process and technology transfer and exchange between WACKER POLYSILICON production sites.
  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance teams, within Operations, and within other service units with focus on achieving optimal results and solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective. 

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Monitor project process to compile project reports.
  • Keep documentation and equipment records up to date. 
  • Represent WACKER’s interests toward suppliers and contractors.
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in according to WACKER policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Instrument/Controls Engineering
  • Fundamental technical knowledge in the field of chemical, mechanical, or process engineering
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles, construction practices, and chemical and physical processes.
  • Fundamental understanding of function and design or processing equipment and piping systems (heat exchangers, distillation columns, pressure vessels, etc.); alternatively, understanding of power circuitry, basic control system design  
  • Familiar working with process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, pipeline isometrics, and equipment drawings
  • Objective judgement and fact-based decision-making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
  • Strong multitasking competency
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
  • Team player attitude
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • Preferred, but not required: experience with Six Sigma and Lean, SAP EAM, and COMOS
  • Willingness and ability to travel or relocate domestically as required
