We are currently seeking a Regional Mechanical Integrity Specialist for our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The Regional Mechanical Integrity Specialist is responsible for the application and implementation for ongoing compliance with WACKER Directives and Engineering Standards, in regards to the mechanical integrity quality assurance and quality control requirements. This position will interface with relevant third parties such as consultants and auditors retained by the Company as well as with facility and corporate leadership.

 

  • Report directly to the Director of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity.
  • Develop regional MI QA/QC program and assist individual sites with the implementation of the program.
  • Track, document, and communicate MI QA/QC progression and associated MI QA/QC metrics.
  • Develop a continuous improvement program for the MI QA/QC program.
  • Participate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and others in developing and implementing work process improvement activities
  • Work with Site Engineering, Sourcing, and Site Stores organizations to develop and execute appropriate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) practices. Assess effectiveness of QA/QC practices.
  • Support site and capital projects to ensure MI QA/QC requirements are established and implemented during the project execution.
  • Work with Corporate/Site Inspector groups to ensure appropriate inspection technologies are being used and assess quality of inspection plans.
  • Perform audits of the MI QA/QC processes at the NCA sites and vendor locations.
  • Develop training materials and requirements for the affected personnel.
  • Train Site MI QA/QC Leaders, Reliability Engineers, Operators, and Mechanics on their role in reliability improvement and MI QA/QC.
  • Stay engaged with Asset Management Strategy objectives to engage and develop manufacturing plant capability.
  • Provide guidance to project, maintenance, engineering, operations, logistics on all areas of MI QA/QC.
  • Plan and guide projects to ensure that all deliverables and timing needs are met and properly documented
  • Review calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, and purchase documents to assure the design and procurement of equipment meets appropriate quality standards and regulatory body requirements and provides the required functionality
  • Collaboration with all functional areas and contractors regarding the planning, prioritization and data collection of all field and program activities related to the integrity and quality assurance and control programs
  • Support vendor qualification activities to ensure they meet the MI QA/QC requirements including certification reviews, shop inspections, and records reviews.

What we need from you:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Mechanical or a Technical Degree with experience
  • With BS in Safety, Engineering, or Mechanical – 5+ years relevant chemical plant experience or equivalent.
  • Other Technical Degree – 7+ years relevant chemical plant experience or equivalent.
  • strong subject matter expertise regarding mechanical integrity quality assurance and quality control requirements and practices, both as industrial disciplines as well as under the regulatory mandates for these areas
  • A detailed understanding of facility operating, engineering, maintenance, and planning processes
  • Ability to identify and communicate MI QA/QC ramifications of existing, new, and modified processes
  • An aptitude for “walking the plant” and explaining to company personnel, contractors, and visitors, facility processes and MI QA/QC issues and solutions related to those processes
  • A good working knowledge of maintenance, reliability, and MI QA/QC best practices
  • The organizational capability to work in multiple sites, supply chains, and systems 
  •  Be able to communicate well/influence with operators, control mechanics, peers, and leadership
  • Lead multiple improvement teams at multiple sites and maintain a strong connect to technical organizations such as the Engineering Asset Reliability Excellence, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Business/Site Manufacturing groups
  • Knowledge/experience with OSHA 29 CFR1910, General Industry (e.g., 1910.119), EPA, RMP requirements related to organizational responsibilities, and other recognized industry standards and practices (Local, State, Federal).
  • An exceptional understanding and application of related codes and consensus standards is also necessary (e.g. state fire, boiler, and pressure vessel codes; API, ANSI, ASME etc. standards and recommended practices) as these play a role in overall MI QC/QC requirements
  • Analytical ability, organizational skills, time and people management skills, computer skills such as SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and executing a MI QA/QC program
  • Exceptional leadership, ownership, conflict resolution, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Capable of performing various site MI QA/QC inspections, follow-up of activities, and approval.
