What you will do:
This position performs inspection engineering tasks for quality control purposes and maintains regulatory compliance of equipment and multiple mechanical systems in support of the site’s production units. This position will report to the Director of EHSS and/or Mechanical Integrity Manager with support and coordination between the site and regional operations, engineering, and maintenance departments.
- Inspect and audit welding and mechanical instillation of structural steel, equipment, piping, etc. per WACKER and site specifications.
- Perform incoming inspections of vendor supplied equipment and piping.
- Conduct shop audits of fabrication shops for equipment and piping.
- Implement welder testing and inspection per WACKER specifications.
- Develop QA/QC related work procedures.
- Perform raw materials inspection.
- Audit ongoing work activities such as cutting, fit-up, welding, bolt-ups, equipment setting, and coatings on site and off site at contractors’ fabrication shops.
- Responsible for RCRA generation as relating to container and labeling usage, maintenance and storage functions, and regular inspections of RCRA applicable areas.
- All other duties as assigned.
What we need from you:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field or Trade School certification or Associate’s Degree (AA/AS)
- At least 5 years of experience in a QA/QC inspection capacity
- AWS CWI Certification is required
- Previous experience in fabrication, structural steel, welding operations, welding procedures, calibrations, order specifications, mill test reports, construction practices, and the use of precision measuring equipment.
- Up to 10% travel
- Working knowledge in the areas of pressure vessel fabrication, installation, maintenance, and inspection.
- Thorough technical knowledge in the field of QA/QC and inspection engineering including relevant regulations, standards, and codes such as ASME, AWS, ANSI, API, and NBIC.
- Working knowledge of various NDE methods including VT, RT, PT, MT, and UT
- Skilled computer skills using Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to utilize drawings, isometrics, dimensional tolerances, weld symbols, and non-destructive exam and specifications.
- Objective judgement and fact-based decision-making
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure.
- Team player attitude.
- Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements.
- Must be physically fit to wear an air purifying respirator if necessary.
- Must be capable of entering confined space locations and climbing ladders to elevated locations such as platforms on top of large process equipment.
- Ability and experience to act like QA-supervisor, QA-inspector, Weld supervisor to support R-Stamp shop on site
