What you will do:

The Project Engineer provides project engineering and project management services related to capital investment projects for Wacker sites in the NCA region. This position will require working in a multi-discipline team with multiple interfaces to internal customers, internal services such as procurement and regulatory affairs, as well as external suppliers and contractors. Domestic travel and international travel will be required occasionally over an extended period of time dependent on project assignment.

 

Managerial Duties (in coordination with the supervisor) 

  • Manage and provide technical direction to assigned engineering team members
  • Compile and provide reports related to area of responsibility
  • Target and priority setting in the project execution
  • Coordination, control, information of / about: work processes and interface, specialist departments, contractors, resources (personnel, equipment, internal legwork)
  • Estimate, review, and edit the effects in terms of the business objectives
  • Conduct assessments of technical results and compliance with legal, internal guidelines, and regulations.
  • Steering, assess, control: technical results, the implementation on IMS (Integrated Management System) and compliance with legal and internal guidelines

 

Technical Duties

  • Processing and implementation of legal, economic, safety and environmental regulations, standards, and codes
  • Execution of pre-engineering, concepts, studies, alternatives, strategies
  • Evaluate process optimization, simulation, and risk assessment
  • Conduct the overall engineering and project management tasks such as process and system planning, design, specification, calculation of cost estimates, expenditure planning, project appropriation request, scheduling, permit/regulatory planning, safety, quality and regulatory reviews, subcontracting, procurement, construction management, commissioning support, plant handover, performance test, acceptance, rejection handling
  • Coordinate 3rd party contractors and suppliers involved in the project
  • Monitor project progress and compile project reports
  • Coordination interfaces to other engineering disciplines involved in the project
  • Manage changes in scope and/or priorities during project execution
  • Applying best practices related to project management, engineering, and construction
  • Utilize value engineering practices
  • Compile and provide project as-built documentation
  • Drive and support continuous improvement related to safety, quality, and cost
  • Represent Wacker's interests towards authorities, suppliers, and contractors
  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations, and other service units with focus on achieving optimal results/solutions from a corporate/enterprise perspective
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with Wacker's policies and procedures

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience 
  • Experience related to process and mechanical engineering in a project, operations, and/or maintenance environment in the field of chemical engineering  
  • Project management experience    
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles, relevant codes, and construction practices to effectively manage projects and to apply efficient and innovative solutions to technical and organizational challenge    
  • Expertise in life-safety systems and automated material handling applications is sought            
  • Able to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
  • Capable of professionally dealing with changing priorities and scope requirements
  • Strong process and mechanical engineering skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-driven and motivated team player with strong communication skills
