We are currently seeking a Production Manager II on our CSR team at our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

This role will report to the Operations Manager of CSR at the Charleston site. This position will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the CSR Department including meeting production goals, organization and personnel planning, production reporting and continuous improvement activities while ensuring safety, quality, environmental protection, and housekeeping standards (5s) are maintained and continuously improved. This role will also be a key player for the implementation, continuous improvement and developing of new measures for the departmental Operational Excellence Program. The Production Manager will participate in cross functional teams to achieve targeted results (e.g. in plant wide projects to improve operational excellence, operator training or SOP´s) while ensuring compliance with all laws. This position works closely with the department trainer to ensure solid operator training. This includes developing and improving existing and new training material, developing skill block and solid testing material as well as individual operator assessments. This role is also part of the on-call rotation for the department.

 

Managerial duties

  • Planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating processes in the area of responsibility with the goal of continual improvement (quality, safety, environmental protection, productivity, costs) .
  • Responsible for the CSR shift teams culture/operational excellence performance as well as the safe execution of all work in the department according to all relevant POD´s and SOP´s. Manages a team of 5 direct reports and 40-60 indirect reports. Oversees team member scheduling and time management (for example offsetting absences for vacation, illness, shutdowns, maintaining minimal operating personnel).
  • Oversee and ensure that production systems and related processes meet changing business needs.
  • Ensure all required trainings are completed by all team members in their area of responsibility.
  • Conduct morning routine meetings and participate in production alignment, Maintenance , Engineering, Quality and other meetings as required.
  • Responsible for cost control over operating supplies and the proper disposal of recyclables and wastes
  • Responsible for RCA program oversight, facilitate, participate in safety and production loss related RCA´s and work on assigned tasks.

Specialized Duties

  • Communicate work and production requirements under changing premises
  • Coordinate production volumes with down and upstream departments
  • Monitor and supervise installations; troubleshooting or organizing troubleshooting; coordinating of such with affiliated companies
  • Prepare and supervise routine repairs and maintenance work including major shutdowns; coordination with Engineering; managing inspections and making the installations available for inspections
  • Initiate procurement and monitoring of volume and quality of auxiliary supplies required in the area
  • New installations and process changes: apply operating knowledge to planning and execution; plant safety instructions for construction workers; checks prior to start-up; start-up; initiation to permanent operation
  • Investigate ways to reduce costs while maintaining or improving safety, quality and productivity
  • Perform other duties as required

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the chemical industry
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a chemical industry or manufactory environment
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven process improvement and project management skills in a manufacturing company required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
  • High awareness of quality, safety, and environment protection
  • Chemical production: process and installation technology, chemical processes and methodology, process control technique
  • Organizational management and communication: Team Member management and development, operations cost accounting, quality control, and effective communication
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate others
  • Solid presentation and training skills
  • Must have the ability to read and understand P&ID/ISO drawings
  • Must be able occasionally work nights or weekends when required (emergency situations)
  • Must have ability to assume department on-call duties
