we are looking for you as a(n) Process Development Engineer I/II - Deposition.

We are currently seeking a Process Development Engineer in our Deposition department for our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The Process Development Engineer, Deposition position initiates, conducts, and tracks process developments (improvements) and changes for producing hyperpure polycrystalline silicon to keep the business division Polysilicon Charleston, TN site competitive with respect to output, cost, quality and EHSS by execution of the technology strategy of the business division. This position provides engineering and technical support services in order to ensure safe operations and to optimize the production processes and efficiency (with respect to cost, quality, quantity) of the polysilicon deposition (Deposition and H2-Recovery) at the Wacker Polysilicon plant in Charleston, TN. This position will transfer processes from German sites to the Charleston, TN site and continuously align processes between all business division sites.

 

  • Exerting influence on employees not directly subordinate in technical aspects to ensure improvements are made; projects definition, controlling costs and deadlines.                      
  • Technical supervision of employees of Process Development Deposition in a deputy role
  • Independent planning, execution and evaluation of experiments performed on the running production processes including documentation and presentation of results.
  • Evaluating experimental results and preparing corresponding recommendations for the improvement of processes and installation parts
  • Continuous process and product alignment between all business division Polysilicon sites (Semiconductor grade, Solar grade)
  • Conduct analyses of problems and deviations on the existing production processes (troubleshooting); analysis of process data (database, process historian, etc.); process support to meet production output goals.
  • Planning, monitoring and coordinating pilot production projects in cooperation with the Production and Engineering divisions.
  • Closely work together with process engineers in Germany during capacity expansion projects, process simulations and repair, as well as with engineers responsible for up- and downstream processes
  • Development of improved (output, quality, manufacturing costs) polysilicon deposition processes and equipment
  • IP protection by application for patents
  • Responsible for RCRA generation as relating to container and labeling usage, maintenance and storage functions, and regular inspections of RCRA applicable areas.
  • Any additional tasks necessary to fulfill business needs given by supervisor.
  • Special Assignments: Carrying out projects in the relevant task area in partnership with external institutes, service providers, suppliers, and competitors.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental related maintenance and technical controls are done in a timely manner and all P&ID are kept up date.

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering field is required.
  • Minimum 0-3 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing facility or similar industry plant environment
  • Experience in R&D/Production/Technology is preferred.
  • Proven successful performance in an environment with schedule and cost pressure.
  • Very strong in IT and data-processing skills, especially databases, statistical data processing (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, Access)  
  • Basic business experience
  • Experience dealing with frequently changing priorities and scope requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge in the area of chemistry, chemical engineering, process engineering
  • Broad and interdisciplinary knowledge of chemistry, good knowledge of instrumental analysis and catalysis preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as multi-tasking skills
  • Good organizational skills, independent and very systematic working style; fact-based and objective decision-making
  • Good team player, able to work effectively with colleagues in other areas and at other levels of the organization
