WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries.
At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Maintenance Planner - Central Infrastructure to be a part of our growing team.

 

 

The Central Infrastructure Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is self-directed and responsible for providing maintenance plans and schedules for predictive, preventive, routine, reactive and emergency maintenance services to utility operations and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to all Central Infrastructure processes and equipment.  The Maintenance Planner position is also responsible for assisting with the development of reliability-based maintenance strategy, based on preventative and predictive maintenance.  They will collaborate with Central Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and the Contractor Management group to build a reliable scheduling system utilizing SAP.

 

Job Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

  • Coordinates all maintenance planning and scheduling related activities within Central Infrastructure and is one of the principle contacts between the Central Infrastructure Maintenance, Engineering and Operations.  Maintenance planning includes all aspects of developing of scope of work, identify replacement parts, purchasing and receiving parts, assembling work kits
  • Plan and schedule maintenance services to maintain safe operating conditions of the site utility and infrastructure systems
  • Plan and schedule maintenance services to maintain regulatory compliance of site utility and infrastructure systems
  • Plan and schedule major utility equipment revisions.  Facilitates revision repair / restoration of major equipment (Boilers, Cooling Tower, Wastewater Treatment Tanks, etc.) while maintaining turnaround schedule compliance
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities for on-site contractor and 3rd party maintenance service providers
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities in order to maintain PM and PdM program

Coordination Duties:

  • Facilitate Work Backlog and Scheduling meetings.  Provide current status of maintenance work.  Identify and communicate barriers to achieving completed maintenance work
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups and individuals within Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations departments as well as other service units with focus on achieving optimal results/solutions from a proactive perspective
  • Support “best practices” between Central Maintenance and site production areas
  • Support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost
  • Represent WACKER’S interests towards authorities, suppliers, and contractors

Administrative Duites:

  • Schedule and Document required maintenance using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) in an efficient and organized manner
  • Maintain scheduling related metrics and/or KPIs tracking schedule compliance and work execution performance
  • Assist in the development of the Central Infrastructure maintenance related work processes and procedures including Work Instructions and ITPMs
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance to WACKER’S policies, procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Ensure all safety and environmental related maintenance and technical controls are documented correctly and completed in a timely manner
  • Facilitate PSM safety relevant information is kept up to date
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (or higher-level education) in the field of mechanical / electrical engineering and/or Journeyman with industrial mechanical /electrical / EI&C maintenance  and planning experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management preferred
  • 7+ years combined professional experience in the field of mechanical / electrical engineering and/or industrial mechanical /electrical / EI&C maintenance
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with maintenance planning and scheduling of PMs and project work as well as experience with prioritizing reactive work
  • Experience with maintenance / project planning and scheduling within SAP
  • Experience with vendor and/or project costing, quotation, and proposal bid process
  • Experience with researching OEM vendor technical and/or project documentation to locate replacement part and preventive maintenance recommendations
  • Experience with working directly with OEM vendors to secure replacement parts, preventive maintenance recommendations, and scheduling on-site work
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintenance software including SAP to plan, schedule, purchase materials, input data, research BOMs, etc. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure 
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices including relevant regulations, standards, and codes    
  • Ability to read and understand complex piping diagrams and mechanical drawings
  • Leadership skills combined with team player attitude 
  • Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach 
  • Strong multi-tasking competency 
  • Strong technical writing for process and workflow documents
  • Willing to work weekends and rotating shifts if needed
  • Ability to work in the field - climbing ladders, working from heights, wearing PPE
