We are looking for capable, innovative, and enthusiastic achievers to join our team and grow with us. We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist for our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

This role will report to the Operations Manager of CSR at the Charleston site.  This position is responsible for the implementation, effectiveness review, and improvements of operational excellence systems to promote efficiency and effectiveness of systems and processes, data integrity, process documentation, and training. In addition, the Operations Specialist will participate in cross-functional process improvement teams to achieve targeted results while ensuring compliance with all laws and procedures while conserving resources and meeting production and quality requirements. The position will work hand in hand with the department's maintenance gatekeeper to ensure scheduled and planned maintenance jobs are ready to be worked on and will function as the gatekeeper´s deputy in his absence. The position provides leadership to relevant operational excellence projects; consulting with cross-functional business experts as needed; has business ownership for assigned projects; and is responsible for ensuring that the system and related processes meet new and existing business needs. The OS will additionally work closely with the department trainer to incorporate operational excellence into our training material and training processes.

This role also participates in the on-call rotation and will support team members with technical knowledge during upset conditions. The position identifies and provides operational excellence improvement initiatives. Provides expertise in CSR, Grinding and Scrubber production processes. Develops and promotes solutions using technology to increase efficiency and productivity of production. The OS works closely with engineers, maintenance, operators, and other operations/technical specialists.

  • Will be involved with training, testing and development of operators. Participates in development or review of standards within area of expertise. Can work with a higher degree of independence with large, complex, or multiple production processes/departments, including responsibilities with Process Safety Management, Advance Process Control, and PI Vision.
  • Support and advise Team Members in areas of safety, quality and operational excellence
  • Drives process improvement activities within the team as well as focus on improving efficiency, reducing cost and increasing customer satisfaction
  • Serve as a liaison with departments to represent requirements on projects implementing new or revised operational excellence measures
  • Ensure all safety and environmental related maintenance and technical controls are done in a timely manner. This may include RCA  actions items, etc. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to achieve targeted results
  • Provide input to testing, training, documentation, and communications
  • Continuously evaluate processes and deliver solutions to increase efficiency, productivity, consistency, data integrity, and ease of use
  • Consult with business experts' company-wide to understand business needs and design and deliver effective solutions
  • Provide guidance to team and business leaders, including executives, on process recommendations
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

What we need from you:

  • High School diploma with 3+ years of chemical industry experience, or Chemical Process Technology Certification or associate degree in a technical field with 3+ years of chemical industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in a technical/production environment required
  • Must have the ability to read and understand P&ID/ISO drawings.
  • Must be able occasionally work nights or weekends when required (emergency situations)
  • Must have ability to assume department on-call duties
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Able to work with multiple personalities 
  • Excellent MS Office skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven process improvement and project management skills in a manufacturing company required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues preferred
  • Demonstrates technical competency in the areas of safety and process improvement
  • Experience in process improvement and working with various computer application systems (i.e., SAP, Scheduling software, and project management software) preferred
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate others
  • Solid presentation and training skills
