We are looking for capable, innovative, and enthusiastic achievers to join our team and grow with us. We are currently seeking an Online Analytics Specialist for our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The Online Analytics Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and improvement of various types of online/inline process analyzers and their sampling systems. This may include gas chromatographs, tunable lasers, thermal conductivity detectors, infrared spectrometers and various other analyzers or sensors. The objective of the position is to ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely according to both regulatory and Wacker standards.

 

  • Check each process analyzer and sampling system on a regular basis for proper function and inform production unit of any deviations.
  • As necessary, initiate start up or shut down of sample lines depending on status of production plant equipment.
  • Identify analyzer or equipment failures and perform necessary repairs including purging, line breaks (potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals), replacement, cleaning or repair of tubing, valves, fittings, regulators, etc.
  • Occasional minor electrical troubleshooting of switches or circuit boards and repair or replacement may be required.
  • Maintain a written and digital log of all activities including maintenance troubleshooting work.
  • Analyze process or instrument data using basic statistical analysis to identify process deviations or equipment issues.
  • Check calibration gas bottles for proper pressure and ensure fresh bottles are available when necessary. This includes movement and handling of gas bottles and interaction with high pressure systems.
  • Write temporary or standard operation procedures as needed. Train operations personnel on those procedures. Write or update descriptions of analyzer systems. Prepare Energy-Isolation Plans and execute Lock Out, Tag Out process.
  • Support improving existing process analyzer systems in cooperation with Operations and Engineering. Support analyzer tests, projects
  • Reading and understanding P&ID’S, PFD’S, and perform maintenance tasks using instrument loop sheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What we need from you:

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, instrumentation, electronics, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair process analyzer or instrumentation equipment
  • Experience with handling hazardous chemicals in a laboratory or plant setting
  • Experience with Maxum II, Yokogawa TDL, or Siemens CGA is a plus
  • Good mechanical skills (ability to use hand and power tools safely without supervision)
  • Ability to routinely push, pull or lift at least 50 pounds while performing normal unit operations; ability to climb stairs and work at heights in excess of 100 feet; ability to climb vertical ladders. The person must possess sufficient physical strength to perform required operations in a safe manner without endangering the individual or fellow worker.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Can multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Basic IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with PI and basic statistical analysis software (Minitab).
  • Good team player, able to work effectively with colleagues in other areas and at other levels of the organization.
