WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.

 

Job Responsibilities Required

 

Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing, predictive, preventive, and emergency maintenance services related to electrical, instrumentation, and controls production, utility operations and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to mechanical systems plant wide.

 

  • Maintenance of production units, utility, and infrastructure systems.
  • Perform predictive, preventive, routine and, emergency maintenance on production unit, utility, and infrastructure systems equipment.
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting support to production unit systems and equipment.
  • Maintain, calibrate, align, troubleshoot, and repair plant mechanical systems.
  • Perform routine trouble shooting activities.
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to accomplish required maintenance in and efficient and organized manner.
  • Optimize plant preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy.
  • Responsible for maintaining logs, manuals, records, blueprints, and operating procedures.
  • Incorporate safe behavior into all activities and consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams.
  • Represent WACKER'S interests towards authorities, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Provide start-up support to production operations.
  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations, and other service units.
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance to WACKER'S policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications Required Required

 

  • Associate degree, Journeymen (or higher-level education) in the field of mechanical engineering and/or industrial maintenance related field or equivalent vocational/technical training (Journeymen, NiMS, NCCR, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Mechanical systems and applications, preferably in a chemical plant, refinery, or large process plant.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering and/or industrial mechanical maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards, and codes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Thorough understanding of basic mechanics, mechanical theory, mechanical troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring and power tools
  • Repair experience with gear drives, pumps, piping, rigging, fabrication, control valves, couplings, bearings, mixers, steam systems, and repair of complex mechanical equipment and systems
  • Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of mechanical and pneumatic instruments and systems.
  • Understand piping and instrument diagrams, Signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one‐line drawings, and loop sheets.
  • Experience with DCS systems.
  • Familiar with Digital Automation Systems, preferably Delta V Digital Automation / Siemens Automation Systems.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Able to read and comprehend electrical and control drawings and schematics.
  • Strong multi-tasking competency.
  • Ability and willingness for domestic and international travel.
