WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Maintenance Gatekeeper - CSR, Silanes, Poly (4 positions) to join our growing team.



     This operations-based role will serve as liaison between Maintenance and Operations to coordinate, plan, and execute maintenance and capital activities, including outages and turnarounds.  This role is responsible for ensuring the overall availability of process equipment for scheduled maintenance activities and driving benchmark adherence rates of scheduled maintenance activities.  The Maintenance Gatekeeper enables the chemical manufacturing of the products for Division Polysilicon at the Charleston site. Satisfy corporate targets and goals, taking into account all aspects of occupational safety, process safety, environmental protection and production quality, through coordination with EHSS, technical, organizational and human resources. Consider needs and potential of the corresponding departments, observe internal company regulations (e.g., corporate policies concerning safety, the environment, and quality) and strategic division targets, as well as all prevailing industry standards and regulations.  The Maintenance Gatekeeper will coordinate production taking into account the required production amount, productivity, quality assurance, cost control, environmental protection, safety, order and cleanliness.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Track and report schedule adherence rates of scheduled maintenance activities
  • Ensure availability of process equipment for scheduled maintenance activities
  • Prioritize and provide alternative maintenance repair activities to be addressed when scheduled maintenance plans change
  • Coordinate/collaborate with operations management, technical resources, SPOT team and maintenance planners and supervisors to develop equipment repair schedules
  • Assign and communicate priorities for equipment repair requirements
  • Monitor, prioritize, and manage work order backlog list to reduce the number of backlog maintenance activities
  • Initial screening of work request for content, clarity, and priority 
  • Monitoring and supervising installations; troubleshooting or organizing troubleshooting; coordinating of such with affiliated companies
  • Preparing and supervising routine repairs and maintenance work including major shutdowns; coordination with Engineering and shift operations; managing inspections and making the installations available for inspections
  • Providing input to Engineering as requested and aid in forecasting maintenance spend; ensure cost estimation processes are followed
  • Coordinate with mechanical integrity resources to ensure asset performance metrics and other relevant data is maintained
  • Ensure root cause analysis is complete on applicable equipment failures with assigned technical resources
  • Special Project Assignments  or other tasks as assigned


Job Requirements:

  • HS diploma (and equivalent work experience)
  • Associates degree (or equivalent work experience) in chemical, mechanical or chemical engineering-technology related fields required preferred
  • 3+ years in a similar role within a chemical or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to prioritize and plan
  • Adequate technical knowledge and experience to ensuring requests are justified, scope is sufficiently detailed, and priority / target dates are appropriate
  • Teamwork and cooperation across departments, as well as contractors
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure scheduling includes an appropriate amount of preventative maintenance work versus corrective work
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate (SAP experience preferred)
  • High awareness of quality, safety and environment protection
  • Chemical production: process and installation technology, chemical processes and methodology, process control technique
  • Organization, management and communication: Team Members management and development, operations cost accounting, responsibility for the plant, quality management, information and communication
  • Areas of specialization: automation technology and process control technology, operations controlling
