WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Lab Technician - General Analytics to join our growing team.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct all steps of the analyses required for in-plant testing, batch release and regulatory samples. Participate in the planning, implementation and control of experiments. Provide technical assistance to other lab team members regarding analytical and data-processing aspects
  • Interact with databases and computer software; enter data and retrieve data. Evaluate lab results. Use existing software for evaluation and documentation purposes
  • Observe/differentiate between standard conditions and deviations from normal. Communicate results and deviations/observations from non-routine analyses
  • Cooperate with the other qualified staff in scheduling and coordinating servicing, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance
  • Contact appropriate personnel when additional expertise is required
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes in area of responsibility and safety
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Some College/Associate Degree preferred
  • 1-3+ years of work experience in chemical engineering, process support, process development, production or analytics preferred;
  • 1-3+ years of supervisory experience of qualified staff preferred
  • Chemical instrumentation experience with gas chromatography (GC), FTIR, pH and auto-titration
  • Strong knowledge of common computer software including MS Office, SAP
  • Several years of practical experience in how to set up, conduct and evaluate lab experiments
  • Express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to groups and to individuals
  • Understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions and maintain confidentiality and integrity
  • Safety, detail and quality oriented; having environmental consciousness
  • Required to work a day light Monday thru Friday schedule with the occasional weekend coverage. Work overtime (including weekends and holidays) when necessary
