We are currently seeking a Supervisor for our Central Services team at our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The Contractor Supervisor, Central Services, role will provide construction management services related to small, medium, and large task management projects for WPNA Engineering, Operations, and Site Services throughout WACKER.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of assigned 3rd party Mechanical/Electrical Contractor(s).  Assures timely service in accordance with applicable specifications, targeted budgets, and safety requirements (internal, industry, state, and federal guidelines)
  • Coordinate Wacker personnel and equipment use required to support execution of complex tasks inherent of repairs, maintenance, and project scopes routinely occurring within a chemical/industrial manufacturing facility
  • Oversee a multi-craft team of external contractors consisting of Welders, Fitters, Millwrights, Electricians, Technicians, Foremen, etc.
  • Verify execution of field work performed by 3rd party contractors through constant presence in the field

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Plant Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, outside contractors, and within Site Services to support multiple activities in order to meet the scheduling and resource requirements of each work scope independently
  • Maintain a work schedule that flexibly aligns with the changing priorities of multiple internal customers
  • Responsible for aligning 3rd party’s scheduling, planning, and staffing while eliminating backlog, downtime, and delays for defined work scopes
  • Review contractor’s work performance regarding productivity as well as adherence to Wacker’s specifications, safe work practices, and cost competitiveness
  • Instruct peers and external contractors in the workflow process. This includes coordination and communication methods, scope refinement, notification and work order processing, safe work and supplementary permit issuance on a departmental basis relative to the services provided
  • Track progress in assigned area of responsibility; preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports as required
  • Coordinate with permitting department in the preparation and execution of safe work and ancillary permits
  • Coordinate with Requesting Engineer on applicability of standards
  • Perform field walk downs with QA/QC and other parties as required
  • Monitor work with the goal of continuous improvement.  Revise approach and methodology to maximize quality, safety, environmental protection, productivity, and costs

General Tasks:

  • Responsible for daily time reporting, billing verification, and budgeting
  • Create/change notifications and work orders, approve invoices, and resolve billing discrepancies if realized
  • Responsible for RCRA awareness to ensure contractors adhere to the program
  • Ability to flex schedule based on needs in field
  • All other duties as assigned

 

What we need from you:

  • High School diploma is required; A.S in a technical field is preferred
  • NCCER or equivalent certification in related craft preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, construction, and or maintenance (chemical industry preferred)
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of construction craft trades including relevant regulations, standards, and codes
  • Safety, detail and quality oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and the use of spreadsheets
  • Must be physically fit to wear an air purifying respirator if necessary
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
  • Capability to professionally deal with challenging priorities and requirements
  • Strong multitasking capability
  • Strong Leadership skills combined with team player attitude
  • Objective judgement and fact-based decision-making approach
  • Willingness to work overtime hours as needed

 

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to occasionally loud noise levels
  • Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment mechanical equipment and vibration
  • This position will be required to work at multiple work stations
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties hearing protection, dust masks, respirators, gloves)
  • Standard PPE includes: Shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, (vests and hardhats during project phase)
  • Additional PPE includes; safety goggles, acid suits, rubber boots, full face respirator, supplied air respirator, and dust mask
  • Pacemakers, metal implants, and other similar medical devices are not permitted in certain areas due to the surrounding electrical equipment
  • Overtime may be required
