At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Chemical Support Specialist to be a part of our growing team.



The Chemical Operator (Chemical Support Specialist) will coordinate and monitor maintenance, repair, and assembly activities in the Distillation department. Make preparations for scheduled maintenance. Transport parts and other materials into/out of department. Interface with warehouse/maintenance/engineering to obtain or store required parts and materials. Act as a resource to outside contractors, repair facilities, and technical support departments through the direction of the appropriate Wacker contact person.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and monitors maintenance and repair work in conjunction with internal maintenance departments and/or Wacker contact person for outside contractors to ensure quality and completion by agreed deadlines
  • Coordinates with outside repair shops and technical support departments
  • Makes plans for utilization of materials and parts and coordinates waste disposal according to applicable procedures and regulations
  • Coordinates with logistics to facilitate delivery and storage of parts/material
  • Support and advise Team Members in areas of safety and quality
  • Executes assigned process improvement activities within team with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing cost and increasing customer satisfactio
  • Works with cross-functional teams to achieve targeted results as assigned by department leadership
  • Be available for occasional night/weekend duty for special cases
  • Involvement in preparation and performance of servicing, maintaining and cleaning process equipmen
  • Perform other duties as assigned




  • A.A.S degree or technical certificate/ diploma in Mechatronic Systems or closely related field preferred
  • Two years on-the-job experience with mechanical/ electrical/ instrumentation systems or equivalent education preferred
  • Knowledge of mechatronic (mechanical/electrical/instrumentation) systems
  • Effective writing and verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to peers at the site
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and associated instrumentation.
  • Ability to work as a member of a cross-functional technical team to troubleshoot and improve systems
  • Organizational skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Able to obtain site license for powered industrial truck
  • Proficient with PC’s and with office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient with use of hand tools
  • Proficient with use of electrical tools and measuring devices
  • Able to read mechanical prints, electrical drawings, and piping & instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
