We are currently seeking a CAD Designer on our corporate engineering team at our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The CAD Designer is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role involves collaborating with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to develop design solutions that meet project specifications and industry standards. The position provides drafting support to process design, new equipment installation and building modifications as well as standard as-built documentation support to plant engineering & maintenance functions within a large chemical manufacturing facility. Engineering disciplines supported may include civil, structural, architectural, electrical, instrumentation and process (equipment & piping).  This position works with a multi-discipline team and will have contact with project engineering groups and IT as well as external suppliers and contractors.

 

  • Prepare and revise computer generated 2-D engineering drawings and 3-D models according to established standards and procedures in software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, COMOS, and/or MicroStation.
    • Create and revise equipment layout, piping, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical drawings from redlines, sketches, plans, and/or verbal/written instructions.
    • Verify all associated items from the redlines are updated throughout the affected drawing set.
  • Interface and communicate formally with project engineers, plant engineers, engineering contractors, other designers and assembly/installation groups.
  • Perform engineering support tasks including plotting drawings, filing originals, creating PDF’s, and plant/site visits to obtain as-built information.
  • Provide input regarding company graphics standards and procedures.  Support development and documentation of design standards, user guides and procedures to create uniform drawings and documentation.
  • Support testing of system updates or new version of CAD/CAE tools for backward compatibility and new functionality.

 

What we need from you:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer-Aided Drafting is preferred; Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
  • 2-5 years of experience in engineering or Proven experience as a CAD Designer in a similar role.
  • Ability to create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models
  • Working knowledge of 2 or more of these or similar software’s - AutoCAD, REVIT, COMOS, MicroStation
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in design work.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to address design challenges
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Team player attitude with ability to work with various levels of the organization
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and troubleshoot; effective planning and time management is vital to this role
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing, maintenance or EPC engineering environment preferred
  • Familiar with principles and procedures of project engineering practices and project management
  • Ability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with others and comfortable with asking questions
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal and formal written & verbal communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
