we are looking for you as a(n) Assistant Operations Manager I - Crushing.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Operations Manager I - Crushing for our site in Charleston, TN.

 

What you will do:

The Assistant Operations Manager I - Crushing provides coaching, guidance, set priorities, assign duties, and monitor progress and improvement for all technical aspects of Crushing VI-maintenance day activities, changeover times, overall equipment efficiency, implementation of new technologies and tools, technical documentation, checklists, asset reliability, etc. This position will also serve as the official deputy to the Operations Manager Crushing and directly supervise the technical roles in Crushing: Technical Specialist and the TSS positions in Crushing

 

  • Oversee and direct improvements of production processes and plant capacity in the plant team
  • Reduce operating cost, improve product quality, reduce waste/downgrades
  • Improve overall OEE. Identify and troubleshoot issues and develop solutions
  • Interface with operations personnel to resolve daily production issues/problems providing on-call support as needed.
  • Organize and lead teams related to quality, efficiency, and change management.
  • Communicate all process changes, upgrades, and issues (e.g., breakdowns) to the affected employees.
  • Regularly utilizes problem solving skills/tools to reduce waste.
  • Routinely relies on experience, analysis, and judgement to maximize outputs and productivity improvements.
  • Provide direction and leadership in support of or in the absence of the Operations Manager. 
  • Operate with an SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost) mindset.
  • Provide support to Production Manager, Technical Specialists, and Technical Support Specialists.  
  • Conduct the Plant Team meeting for area of responsibility.
  • Manage or supervise department day shift team members
  • Keep current and make full use of all digital resources to improve the crushing processes. 
  • Support rollouts, administer trainings, take part in discovery sessions, attend appropriate trainings as required for plant improvements project
  • Ensure that Crushing CHA Production Engineer shares/adopts best practices, and supports RCA/CA/PA activities
  • Participate in strategic projects as project manager or leader
  • Develop and maintain accurate operating instructions, Job Safety Analyses, and other Standard Work documents.
  • Respond to customer claims, 8D, and MRB quality-related root cause analyses and will see that appropriate CA/PAs are put into place.

  • Perform other duties as required.

 

What we need from you:

  • Internal applicant: Minimum of associate degree in a relevant technical field
  • External applicant: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • With bachelor’s degree 7+years relevant experience and 3+ years supervisory experience
  • With associate degree: 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to determine solutions to material loss, downgrades, and equipment performance issues
  • Advanced use of Visual Management, LEAN, and Six Sigma concepts to identify and eliminate the 8 wastes.
  • Envision and identify improved future state of the process and articulate the vision.
  • Ensure clear, concise, and effective documentation exists to support all processes and activities.
  • Motivate, and manage Technical Specialist and Technical support specialists
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative work environment with others
  • Must be able to identify opportunities for cost reduction in the operating process
  • Must understand technical integration and to identify resources to improve processes.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong process/production troubleshooting skills.
