At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Analytical Chemist - Chemical Analytics to be a part of our growing team.

 

 

 

Position Summary

The Analytics Chemist will provide analytical support for spectroscopy instrumentation used for trace metal analysis of polysilicon in a cleanroom environment.  The position will support maintaining cleanroom safety and cleanliness requirements through the monitoring of cleanroom environmental conditions and HVAC equipment.  The chemist will provide support of the routine and non-routine analytical experimentation on an as-needed basis

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting support on instrumentation to ensure equipment availability is at 100% for analytical testing of production samples.
  • Maintain lab safety, quality standards, instruments, policies, procedures in a trace level cleanroom laboratory. Follows company policies regarding health and environmental protection, work safety, plant safety, and quality. Able to work safely either independently or as part of a team.
  • Perform daily wet bench trace analysis chemistry including high purity acid distillation (quantitative analysis in a metal-free environment). This includes absolutely meticulous record-keeping and constant process validation as well as running analysis and instrumentation software to evaluate and document daily lab processes.
  • Calibrate and maintain all lab hardware, particularly ICP-MS and LECO, as well as instruct co-workers or external staff in technical aspects of lab hardware and operation.
  • Cleanroom operation to maintain temperature, humidity, pressure and particle count including lab testing for particle counts, air flows and humidity.
  • Able to work overtime (including weekends and holidays) on the defined schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry required; Master's Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry preferred
  • 1-3+ years of laboratory experience in spectroscopy instrumentation
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, instrumentation, electronics, and willingness/ability to learn more
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair process analyzer or instrumentation equipment
  • Experience with handling hazardous chemicals in a laboratory or plant setting
  • A team player, working with various functions and levels of the organization, being an organization talent with self-assertion, being able to motivate and striving for continuous improvement
  • Ideal candidate should be independent, responsible, well-organized, and a self-starter
  • Knowledge of the chemistry and technology associated with the production of Polysilicon
  • Experience in an ultra-trace cleanroom laboratory preferred
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills for effective contributions in meetings, presentations, and reports
