What you will do:
The Plant Engineer is responsible for the development and commissioning of capital projects, along with the continued optimization of the production process with focus on enhanced work processes, energy reduction efforts, increased throughput, equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and improved product quality. This position serves as the technical expert for the plant and as the liaison between plant staff, plant operations, maintenance, and project engineering during the project lifecycle. The Plant Engineer is responsible for all hazard reviews, technical documentation, and PSM compliance..
- Identifies opportunities and develops methodologies for plant productivity improvements, energy cost reductions, and process optimization improvements.
- Maintain the plant’s technical documentation and serve as the technical expert for Wacker facilities. (P&IDs, loop sheets, interlocks, etc.).
- Determine the acceptable material/equipment for maintenance duties that are not like-for-like replacements or experiencing multiple failures. Including management of the MOCs associated.
- Coordinate and lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment/instrument failures.
- Supports daily maintenance and shutdown activities in the plant
- Execute and Manage Capital Projects - Capital projects implemented safely, as scheduled, within budget, yielding anticipated improvement and estimated return (payback). This includes development of scopes, conducting bid package meetings, routing BARs, and coordinating and overseeing project construction/implementation.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis
- Support Process Hazard Analysis and design reviews for both revalidations and new projects
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
- 4+ years of process/plant engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing facility
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and general/basic knowledge of all other MS Office applications
- Be able to manage simultaneous design and implementation of projects with little direct supervision
- Be able to identify opportunities for productivity improvements and cost reductions.
- Be able to use experience combined with dynamic trending software (PI Vision) to troubleshoot equipment issues
- General knowledge of OSHA standards, PSM compliance, and RAGAGEP
- Basic knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and computer distributive process control systems.
- Capital and expense project management experience preferred
- Very good process/production troubleshooting skills
- Strong mathematical skills, computer skills and technical background.
