WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins. At our Calvert City site, we are currently looking for a  Plant Engineer, Sr to join our growing team.


Job Responsibilities

The primary role of this position is to serve as the technical expert for the plant and as the liaison between plant staff and plant operations with the project engineering group during the project lifecycle. The Plant Engineer is responsible for all hazard reviews, technical documentation, and PSM compliance. 

  • Execute and Manage Capital Projects – Capital projects implemented safely, as scheduled, within budget, yielding anticipated improvement and estimated return (payback). This includes development of scopes, conduction bid package meetings, routing BARs, and coordinating and overseeing project construction/implementation.
  • Initiate Continuous Improvement Initiatives – Recommend and support efforts that provide increases to the plant operability and throughput, product quality, and equipment reliability
  • Represent the Mechanical and Process Technical Expert for the site assets assigned. – Maintain the plant’s technical documentation and serve as the technical expert for Wacker facilities. (P&IDs, loop sheets, interlocks, etc.)
  • Determine the acceptable material/equipment for maintenance duties that are not like-for-like replacements or experiencing multiple failures. 
  • Coordinate and lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment/instrument failures
  • Direct and participate in safety, design, and hazard reviews for projects  
  • Participate in commissioning and startup activities for projects
  • Compose, manage, and close MOCs.
  • Perform root cause analyses as required
  • Participate as the backfill for other staff positions as needed, including other plant engineers and Plant Engineer Supervisor



  • Bachelor Degree in chemical or mechanical engineering required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Six Sigma Certifications preferred,
  • Familiarity with PSM and RAGAGEP preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in a similar role required.
  • In addition to general process engineering knowledge, detailed knowledge of plant operation will facilitate successful recommendation and implementation of projects that meet objectives to improve plant performance in a measurable fashion (throughput, quality, on stream, safety, environmental considerations).
  • Knowledge of advanced process control concepts, basic electrical and good knowledge of mechanical concepts, applicable process and personnel safety considerations, and environmental regulations are integral to the position. Specific applications used routinely include SAP, PI ProcessBook, Microsoft Office applications, DCS software
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of organization
  • Ability to work within the global maintenance organization
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, organizational, communication, interpersonal leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as both the team leader and as a team member
