WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins. At our Calvert City site, we are currently looking for a Engineering Manager I, Production - Dispersions to join our growing team.

 

This position is responsible for plant productivity improvement, production process optimization, equipment reliability, energy reduction efforts, product quality, new product trials and scale-ups, operations and maintenance support/troubleshooting, and computer software support.  The incumbent will introduce process improvements to achieve production targets in the areas of on-stream, quality, waste reduction, and operating costs.  This position supports and coordinates project work such as design reviews, hazard reviews, etc. Provides leadership to engineers and technicians in dispersions and provides technical leadership to all team members in the area. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to engineers and technicians; and product expertise to the plant
  • Provides training and onboarding to all production engineers
  • Identifies opportunities and develops methodologies for plant productivity improvements
  • Identifies opportunities for energy cost reductions and process optimization improvements.
  • Solves potential issues with product quality performance and assists with new product trials.
  • Determines solutions to eliminate potential material losses and/or equipment downtime
  • Provides process control system support for the chemical process operators
  • Provides production on-call support for the process operators
  • Supports daily maintenance activities in the plant.
  • Supports and assists in design reviews, hazard reviews, etc.
  • Develops and maintains operating procedures and trains operators for new or improved processes
  • CompiLes and assemble production data to support budget preparations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Chemical Engineering preferred, Mechanical, Masters preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant field
  • Leadership skills and abilities
  • Troubleshooting process/equipment problems
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvement and cost reductions
  • Multi-task with little direct supervision
  • Problem solving skills and tools
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Work the on-call rotation for production
  • MS Office applications
