WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Ann Arbor site, we are currently looking for a ​Treasury Accountant​ to join our growing team.

 

Treasury Accountant is responsible for all accounting activity for Wacker Polysilicon North America ("WPNA") which includes posting journal entries under US GAAP and IFRS in SAP and preparing month-end general ledger account reconciliations. In addition, the Treasury Accountant will account for payroll and benefits-related activity for WPNA and also Wacker Chemical Corporation ("WCC"). The Treasury Accountant will also perform daily banking activities as needed in the region and act as back-up to the Treasury Accountant for WCC. The successful candidate will prepare annual financial statements for pension and savings plans and act as focal point for the recently-acquired Wacker Biotech US Inc. ("WBU"). Liaising with Payroll, Benefits, Accounts Payable, Credit and Controlling teams is a key aspect of this position.

  • Lead payroll and benefit-related accounting activity. Collaborate with HR to determine proper accounting for benefit program changes or unique payroll transactions. Additional responsibilities include uploading weekly payroll files to General Ledger and working with Controlling to prepare annual allocation models for benefit, retiree, and insurance expenses. Prepare monthly benefit-expense allocations for WPNA and WCC. Prepare schedules for external auditors and consolidate financial results into Wacker's Financial Accounting International Reporting System ("FAIRS"). Support external audit as needed.
  • Perform back-up duties for the maintenance and operation of the software utilized to process banking activity including lockbox in SAP (ELKO). Periodically download prior day bank activity and same-day lockbox activity and upload into SAP liaising with Credit, Accounts Payable and General Ledger to ensure all transactions are correctly accounted for and resolving any issues in a timely manner. Process incoming checks for remote bank deposit. Set up and approve periodic payment runs within Wacker 4-eyes framework. Prepare monthly cashflow forecast for WPNA for submission to Wacker Group explaining variances.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end and annual close activities, including posting journal entries, closing the sub-ledgers and the accounting periods. Prepare and monitor monthly general ledger account reconciliations and process rebills to and from other affiliates, agreeing intercompany balances. Collaborate with Controller of WBU on Accounting integration.
  • Prepare quarterly schedules for pension plan actuaries. Prepare and populate quarterly and annual schedules for Wacker pension and savings plans and enter journals to prepare annual financial statements.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedure documentation and undertake process improvement projects as needed.

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 3-5 years years of experience in related field
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Experience in SAP or equivalent ERP system, with knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting
  • Competent with on-line banking systems including processing incoming and outgoing payments
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
