At our site in Ann Arbor, we are currently looking for a ​Senior Tax Accountant 1​ to join our growing team.


This position, reporting to the Tax Manager, will focus on maintaining the Company’s compliance with sales and use tax requirements in multiple jurisdictions. This position also provides support for Federal, state, and local income tax provision and compliance activities and is also responsible for filing various reports with governmental agencies.  These include US Census reporting, Secretary of State filings, and tax incentive compliance reports.


 Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and files monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns with various jurisdictions, including the coordination of requesting, organizing, and maintaining customer exemption certificates with the Credit Department
  • Acts as the department’s subject matter expert in the area of sales and use taxes, analyzing and responding to inquiries from Procurement and Accounts Payable regarding taxability of specific transactions and posting/updating taxability guidelines on the Wacker  Intranet
  • Extracts various reports from SAP, or requests and compiles data from other departments, and prepares related workpapers required for quarterly income tax provisions and annual income tax returns
  • Maintains files and prepares reports required to comply with various state and local tax incentive guidelines and completes miscellaneous US Census and Secretary of State filings
  • Keeps the department’s tax calendar, coordinates the processing of tax payments and refunds, responds to notices received from various governmental agencies, and handles miscellaneous correspondence
  • Provides support for income and sales/use tax audits, primarily in response to specific information document requests



  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered 
  • 3-5 years relevant experience preferred, but less than 1 year will be considered
  • Accounting experience in a corporate environment or with a public accounting firm
  • Strong Excel skills are required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills are required
