Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing, synthesizing, analyzing, and testing new materials and formulations towards WACKER’s goals within a global team environment.
- Scientist will advance state-of-the-art materials and formulations, generating fundamental knowledge to solve technical challenges.
- Independently contribute to interdisciplinary R&D projects for the target markets, demonstrating advanced knowledge and introducing innovative solutions.
- Drive technology development and implementation, demonstrating strong project planning skills.
- Maintain familiarity with current literature and advances in relevant fields.
- Accurately records, analyzes, interprets, and reports experimental data to stakeholders.
- Actively participate in WACKER safety programs, ensure compliance with safety procedures, maintain good laboratory housekeeping, and proactively propose improvements to existing safety protocols.
- Provides technical and professional mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Provides support to R&D technical manager as needed.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills with presentations to internal technical colleagues, including R&D, Business Teams, and Production as needed.
- Contribute to a creative R&D environment, including ideation and innovation discussions, leading to a robust project pipeline.
Position Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum M.S. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline required, Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial work experience is required
- Synthesis experience in an industrial, academic, or government research lab required. Experience of emulsion chemistry preferred.
- Experience of characterization of chemical compounds via analytical techniques such as NMR, IR, GC, DSC, DMA, TGA, rheology, etc.
- Experience mentoring colleagues in an industrial setting.
- Proven expertise in field supported by technical publications and presentations.
- Able to review and interpret scientific and patent literature; contribute to internal WACKER IP generation.
- Considerable knowledge of laboratory safety policies and practices
- Self-starter and able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks as needed.
- Capable of leading technical projects as necessary
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of silicone chemistry is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated Ability to creatively solve problems and lead investigations.
