WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Ann Arbor site, we are currently looking for a(n) ​Scientist​ to join our growing team.

 

Job Responsibilities

Scientist role is responsible to develop, analyze and test new silicone-based materials and formulations.  This role contributes to interdisciplinary R&D projects within a team environment.

  • Scientist will develop, analyze and test new silicone-based materials and formulations.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary R&D projects within a team environment for various market segments including health care, consumer care, electronics, industrial etc.
  • Accurately records, analyses, and reports experiments data.
  • Focus on safe lab operations, managing lab routines, including equipment maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates with internal technical colleagues, including R&D, Business Teams and Production.
  • Contribute to a creative R&D environment including ideation and innovation discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
  • Chemical synthesis experience in an industrial, academic or government research lab preferred
  • Minimum of a summer internship or equivalent research experience in a lab environment
  • Experience of characterization of chemical compounds via analytical techniques such as NMR, IR, GC, DSC, etc.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commitment to environmental health and safety excellence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
