At our Ann Arbor Innovation Center, we are currently looking for additional scientists as we grow our R&D team
Job Responsibilities
- Scientist role is responsible to develop, synthesize, analyze, and test new materials and formulations towards WACKER’s sustainability goals within a global team environment.
- Scientist will advance state of the art materials and formulations.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary R&D projects for the target markets of Personal Care, E-mobility, and Automotive with a focus on sustainable and high-performance materials.
- Accurately records, analyses, and reports experiments data.
- Focus on safe lab operations, managing lab routines, including equipment maintenance.
- Effectively communicates with internal technical colleagues, including R&D, Business Teams, and Production.
- Contribute to a creative R&D environment including ideation and innovation discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field required.
- Chemical synthesis experience in an industrial, academic, or government research lab preferred
- Minimum of a summer internship or equivalent research experience in a lab environment
- Experience of characterization of chemical compounds via analytical techniques such as NMR, IR, GC, DSC, DMA, TGA, etc.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry and structure property relationships preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Strong commitment to environmental health and safety excellence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
