WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Ann Arbor site, we are currently looking for a ​Lab Technician I/II Automotive​ to join our growing team.

 

Job Overview: 

  • Support product development with focus on Automotive and supporting other market segments (including Industrial, Mold Making and Wound Care) by mixing, testing formulations with lab mixers and various physical/mechanical test equipment, and reporting results promptly and concisely.  
  • Operate within SAP and other internal databases to access or record information relating to product quality, safety and / or production
  • Prepare customer samples, conduct quality tests by following company internal and ASTM methods to ensure materials meet specifications.
  • Maintain lab equipment and manage material inventory; keep a clean, safe and orderly lab working environment. 

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision by following guidelines and procedures
  • Attention to details and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Good analytical skills with aptitude for root cause analysis
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, a team player
  • Experience in using lab mixers and elastomer test equipment a plus.
  • Travel will be minimal at this level.
  • Work environment is in a laboratory with an occasional trip to observe work in a production facility or to perform test in a production QA lab for R&D purposes.
  • Physical requirements.  Expected to be able to lift 20 lbs (or possibly more using mechanical aids)
