At our site in Ann Arbor, we are currently looking for a ​Intellectual Property Specialist​ to join our growing team.

 

We are seeking an IP Specialist to join our Intellectual Property (IP) team at our regional headquarters in Ann Arbor.

 

Primary Tasks:

  • Support Wacker's NCA business by drafting, negotiating and maintaining non-disclosure agreements with third party companies.
  • Support the training of business, technical, and corporate personnel in matters related to confidential information.
  • Maintenance, updating and administration of non-disclosure agreements in the related internal data management system.
  • Assisting in-house patent attorneys with all legal services.

 

Secondary Tasks may include:

  • Supporting the preparation and filing of documents with the USPTO in cooperation with the responsible patent attorneys
  • Maintenance, updating and administration of all official and internal files and deadlines in the internal IP management system during patent filing, prosecution and maintenance

 

Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Must be highly versitile, adaptable, and posses the ability to be a team player, a problem solver, and provide excellent client service
  • Ability to work and think with independence, manage own docket, work under pressure, and complete projects under deadlines
  • Must be able to discuss confidential business topics and handle with discretion
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of work, produce work that is consistently complete and accurate, and, eventually, complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Familarity with IP and contract concepts
  • Familarity with non-disclosure agreements
  • Must possess strong writing and communication skills
  • Must have strong collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Must be willing to ask for guidance and/or accept coaching
  • Must possess ability to think critically and ask probing questions
  • Exposure to drafting and negotiating non-disclosure agreements is preferred, but not neccessary if the candidate has strong analytical skills, can comprehensively evaluate information, and is comfortable making decisions
  • Familarity with USPTO filing procedures
  • Familarity with IP docketing and databases
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Word

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree along with 3 or more years of relevant legal and/or technical experience.
  • Comfort in dealing with colleagues located domestically and abroad.
  • Knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, and deadlines a plus
  • Experience with USPTO e-filing systems a plus
