To strengthen our team in Ann Arbor,
we are looking for you as a(n) Director, Corporate Communications.

 

Our Director, Corporate Communications opening is responsible for the overall external communications activities and select internal communications of WCC (corporate and marketing communications levels) with direct reporting line to the WCC President & CEO and management coordination with WCAG CC. Corporate communications level includes: 1) Brand management 2) Press & media relations 3) Public relations 4) Crisis Communications 5) Community relations (in conjunction with Community Relations Manager) 6) Corporate culture growth & development 7) Budget management 8) WCC and WCAG newsletters. Marketing communications level includes: 1) Advertising 2) Tradeshows/events 3) Agency supervision 4) Wacker digital and social media platforms 5) Business team marcom strategy and budget planning/implementation 6) Displays and sales aids.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee, direct, develop and actively engage communications team in alignment with core responsibilities, corporate and project objectives
  • Ensure a positive brand image is presented throughout all internal and external communications. Support executive team level internal and external communications.
  • Support WCC management team by assisting, developing and fostering a positive corporate culture through leadership and communication activities.
  • Lead, manage crisis communication action plan in conjunction with WCC executive team, Legal, EHSS, WCAG media relations and key stakeholders to form an effective, cohesive networking system to respond in crisis situations
  • Lead business team marcomm planning, development, implementation and budgeting in alignment with strategic business goals and objectives. Recommend marcomm strategies and apply/employ digital platforms to augment / replace traditional marcomm.
  • Manage department budget and co-manage business team marcomm budgets to ensure alignment with planned spend. Provide and facilitate staff training to enable personal development, growth and improve value contribution.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of position related experience with at 5 years leading a team
  • Travel required up to 25-30%
  • Demonstrated strategic marketing communications planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, lead and develop people.
  • Excellent creative skills
  • Excellent social media knowledge of concepts and practical experience
  • Demonstrated writing proficiency
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Manage professionalism and calm under stressful situations
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization
  • Familiarity in working with a foreign owned international company
  • Proficient with Microsoft software skills including ADOBE suite
