What you will do:

The Communications Manager I is responsible for managing projects and activities that involve high-level messaging, writing, and editing of executive communications, presentations, internal news items, magazine articles (internal and external), scripts, white papers, editorials, e-newsletters and digital content for WACKER customers, partners, and team members. The person in this role will develop, create, and maintain our regional content on the WACKER intranet and website as well as the company’s social media pages on LinkedIn and Twitter in addition to future digital opportunities (such as Instagram and social media-linked eblasts). The person in this role will support the overall Corporate Communications team as needed by leading special projects such as campaigns – both internal and external – where management and oversight of multi-channel marcom vehicles is required. This may involve the establishment and leadership of project teams and/or the outsourcing and oversight of approved external vendors for support. This individual will be expected to utilize survey tools and oversee informal focus groups for feedback on proposed messaging where appropriate.

 

  • High-level writing and editing of internal leadership communications, speeches and presentations, award nominations, internal news items, press releases, scripts, e-newsletters and more. When appropriate, due to bandwidth or expertise, this individual will identify and oversee the work of outside contributors for technical or complex white papers, magazine articles (internal and external), and editorials/advertorials.
  • Management of social media, including the regular updating of existing sites and pages as well as the creation of new content in support of business team needs for external customers, talent attraction, and morale-boosting for current and future employees.
  • Serve as point person for updating and maintaining the North and Central Americas pages of external website, as well as developing future landing pages, event-related or campaign-driven eblasts, and related items.
  • Manages special projects which may include support for internal and external   branding initiatives; communication of mission, purpose, and values; and coordinated announcements for workforce development initiatives, new product/market launches, and related activities.

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field is required
  • Deep experience writing content for multi-channel needs and audiences. Work samples will be requested
  • Familiarity with AP Style and the development and/or use of style guides and best practices for intranet and extranet as well as social media
  • Experience building, maintaining, and utilizing effective relationships and network of internal corporate resources as “go-to” subject matter expert range of technical and corporate topics such as products, employee activities, and sustainability initiatives
  • Strong facilitation skills through the leadership of informal teams to develop and launch print and digital campaigns
  • Experience managing freelancers and external agency resources to support content needs of technical staff for items such as video scripts/outlines and chemistry magazine articles
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software such as Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with project management, marcom, and/or intranet tools such as Asana, Basecamp, Marketo, Unily, Sharepoint or others preferred
  • Able to maintain confidentiality 
  • Able to engage professionally at all levels with corporate leadership and team members; federal, state, and local politicians
  • Able to manage high-pressure situations, delegate (with informal authority) and multi-task
