To strengthen our team in Ann Arbor,
we are looking for you as a(n) Chemist II.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive development of innovative silicone-based solutions and formulated blends in existing or new application areas in construction silicones adhesives & sealants that meet customer & market needs. Development of in-house application tests and/or use of standardized testing methods to evaluate existing and/or new products for specific applications in construction.  Maintain and manage external product certifications as required by market needs. 
  • Independent design and execution of experiments in the lab, analysis and interpretation of data and drawing of conclusions. Communicate results in an effective manner to both internal and external stakeholders. Carefully organize data and presentations utilizing multiple software programs: Microsoft programs, electronic lab notebook, and SAP, to support and educate customers efficiently and effectively. 
  • Provide technical support to sales and customers as well as collaborative support to other functional groups including R&D, analytical, marketing, procurement, supply chain and production) on current and/or future products.  
  • Provide classroom type trainings to support teams and Wacker Academy for customers.
  • Efficient daily upkeep of lab equipment and chemical storage in a proactice safe and compliant manner

 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Polymers, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related field required; Masters preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required
  • Chemistry lab experience with familiarization of standard ASTM and ISO testing protocols required
  • Previous experience with surface chemistry, emulsion chemistry and/or organic chemistry
  • Formulation experience in adhesives & sealants or other chemical industries
  • Experience designing experiments
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Well organized and can execute multiple projects at once
