
The Material Handler is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through the efficient management of materials, inventory, warehouse activities, shipping and receiving, and ERP system transactions. This position serves as a critical link between Production, Procurement, Engineering, Accounting, and Logistics to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory records remain accurate, and finished goods and incoming materials flow efficiently throughout the facility.
The role requires hands-on warehouse support, strong ERP proficiency, inventory management expertise, and the ability to respond quickly to changing production priorities while maintaining lot traceability and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Material handling and production support: review the Operations Board and Epicor to prioritize daily production requirements; issue raw materials to production jobs; stage and deliver materials; support real-time production material requests; reissue materials when schedules or job assignments change; and receive completed production lots into inventory.
- Inventory management and transaction accuracy: perform scheduled cycle counts; investigate, research, correct, and reconcile inventory discrepancies; process Material Issues, Material Returns, Production Receipts, Inventory Transfers, and Goods Receipts in Epicor; and maintain inventory accuracy and lot traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Warehouse organization and material flow: organize warehouse inventory to improve accessibility and efficiency; label materials and storage locations; maintain orderly warehouse and production support areas; stage materials for upcoming production and outbound shipments; and assist with locating materials to support efficient material flow.
- Shipping, receiving, and logistics support: receive incoming materials and verify deliveries; process Bills of Lading and shipping documentation; coordinate pickups with freight carriers, UPS, FedEx, and other transportation providers; pick, pack, build, wrap, stage, and prepare customer shipments; and receive and distribute incoming mail and business deliveries.
- Production and department coordination: communicate with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Accounting, Logistics, and other departments regarding material availability, job creation requests, production requirements, shortages, bottlenecks, and inventory questions to support uninterrupted workflow.
- Administrative and ERP support: process Goods Receipts and purchasing transactions in Epicor to support vendor invoice processing; complete ERP transactions that enable Accounting to process vendor invoices, payroll-related billing, and approved business expenses; and maintain accurate purchasing and receiving records.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, manufacturing support, shipping and receiving, logistics, or a related operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience performing inventory transactions, supporting production material needs, maintaining lot traceability, resolving inventory discrepancies, and coordinating material flow in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor, strongly prefer
- Strong understanding of material handling, inventory control, warehouse flow, and production support requirements.
- Proficiency in Epicor ERP or comparable ERP systems, including Material Issues, Material Returns, Production Receipts, Inventory Transfers, and Goods Receipts.
- Working knowledge of lot traceability, cycle counting, discrepancy investigation, and inventory reconciliation practices.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other warehouse material handling equipment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook skills for communication, tracking, and administrative support.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Accounting, Logistics, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, transaction accuracy, organization, and data integrity.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, respond to changing production needs, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify material shortages, inventory variances, bottlenecks, and process improvement opportunities.
- Review Epicor to support daily prioritization of production material requirements.
- Maintain alignment between physical material movement and Epicor transactions to support inventory accuracy and production readiness.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages before they impact production schedules.
- Research, correct, and reconcile inventory transactions when material usage changes or discrepancies are identified.
- Organize, label, and maintain warehouse inventory and storage locations for accurate identification and efficient access.
- Stage materials for upcoming production requirements and outbound shipments.
- Receive incoming materials, verify deliveries, and complete receiving and purchasing-related transactions accurately.
- Prepare shipping documentation, Bills of Lading, carrier pickups, pallets, customer shipments, and outbound transportation requirements.
- Support incoming mail, business deliveries, daily shipping, receiving, and logistics activities as needed.
- Process Goods Receipts and purchasing transactions to support vendor invoice processing, payroll-related billing, and approved business expenses.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving, inventory, and transaction records in support of Operations, Procurement, and Accounting.
- Support a safe, organized, and compliant warehouse and production support environment.
- Systems: Epicor ERP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
