What you will do:
The Lab Technician will be responsible for safely generating data within a laboratory setting by conducting designated lab tasks directed by their manager. This could be tasks such as specimen preparation and physical testing. The Lab Technician will also be responsible in accurately recording, organizing, and effectively communicating the results of their work.
- Achieve the goals and targets set by the Technical Service Manager.
- Conduct technical projects safely by performing designated laboratory tests in compliance with national and international standards, as well as Wacker SOPs.
- Operates laboratory equipment to prepare and test samples, generate data, and communicate findings clearly and effectively.
- Support the technical and business team by interacting in a positive manner with colleagues and providing training to others. Demonstrate strong teamwork skills to collaboratively complete projects.
- Assist Application Development and Technical Service by developing, optimizing and evaluating products for the construction market.
- Work with minimal supervision in projects to support business.
- Effectively communicate results both internally and externally using tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word as needed. Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
- Demonstrate good time management, project management and communication skills.
- Accurately document all work in an electronic laboratory notebook and other relevant record-keeping databases.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in a scientific field preferred.
- 0-2+ years of relevant experience.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong time management, communication skills, and technical aptitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment, including safety awareness, accurate record-keeping, and conducting tests.
- Basic understanding of construction practices (residential, commercial, DIY).
- Familiarity with common physical testing equipment (e.g., Instron, Tinius, Humboldt, etc.).
- Knowledge of polymer and/or cement chemistry.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Capability to remain seated for prolonged durations while performing computer work or documentation tasks.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment, and laboratory instruments.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Potential exposure to chemicals and other hazards, requiring proper training, use of appropriate PPE, and the ability to wear respiratory protection when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals and personnel at various levels.
